The Bigger Picture of Physical Therapy

Wayland Baptist University Physical Therapist today are viewed as health care professionals that seek to promote health and wellness. The main roles that physical therapist play in are; practitioners, educators, scientist, and consultants. Their main purpose is the practice of maintenance and restoration of physical function and health as stated in, “The Role of a Physical Therapist.” Physical Therapy is one of the fastest and largest growing occupations today that are helping people prevent loss of mobility and restoring flexibility and strength.
Physical therapy practice starts with the P.T obtaining S.O.A.P from the patient to become more informed with each individual. Obtaining the history, medical/lab test and images of the patient informs the P.T what he must plan out in order to create the proper strategy for each individual to begin rehabilitation. The bigger picture that I see why physical therapy is growing so vastly is because of the older generations are in need of more assistance in regaining loss of mobility and muscular strengthening. This all relates to how physical therapist practice, educate, and inform all ages of medical problems to live a healthy and fit life to perform at optimal levels in their daily lives.
