Throughout the United States there are 116,240 K–12 schools. 23% of them are private schools. The other 77% are public schools. Some say private schools are better than public schools, while others say public schools are better. I can only speak the benefits many will receive from attending my school. Private schools were actually the only schools around before public schools started. The first private schools were established by the religious missionaries of the Roman Catholic Church in Florida and Louisiana. Organized systems of public education did not take shape until the 1840s. St Croix Lutheran is more efficient, safer, more reliable, and holds a much higher level of education, than the public school. Croix is much higher than at a public school. At St. Croix they do not just let students get away with not doing their homework. There is a strict punishment if someone does not do it. The complete attitude of every student that goes to a St. Croix Lutheran is different from others at other schools. Children that go to St Croix want to achieve more, become the best they can be, and excel in their schooling at a faster pace. Many might think that their children can get the same kind of higher class education from other private schools or even the public school. They are right, but St. Croix offers the true aspect of Jesus. We preach Christ crucified and He is the only way to get to heaven. At St Croix it is required to take a final exam, and if someone does not pass it they must retake their senior year. At some public schools one is not even required to pass all of their final exams. Most people go to public schools. They never read about other schools or what they offer. Why do we chose public schools anyway? Most Parents know they just want to have a child that can live how they did and learn where they have. Parents have been around and they wanted their child to be what was expect of them, going to school, get good grades and find a great college. Later on in the child’s life they would be happy but it all starts with the question what kind of school should they start. Most parents ignore the fact that there are charter schools which are close to public schools. The few things that are different is the services that public schools provide also the grades of the students last the teaching requirement in the schools.
The class divide between those who attend private schools and those who attend public schools is evident, especially when looking at large heavily populated cities. In the United States 86% of public schools are traditional schools, this is due to the fact that traditional schools exceed year round schools. Of course a long summer sounds great but that isn’t the only reason traditional schools are better. Although you can receive the same education at a year round school that you can at a traditional school, traditional schools are better. Constant debate exists over whether or not homeschooling works and, if it does work, how it compares to public school. More parents should consider homeschooling their children rather than sending them to public school because of family values, religious views, refined social skills, and higher educational opportunities.

Although private school children pay much more, public school children are paying money to attend school as well. Unlike a private school where you pay for everything up front, a public school requires that students pay for most classes through a class fee. After paying the class fees that they may have, the students still then have to pay for any school supplies they may need and any books that are not provided by the school. Most parents will not send their children to a private simply because of the money, but when in reality they will be paying for their children to attend school either way. I think experiencing both private school and public school had a lot of benefits in the long run. It allowed for me to get two different perspectives in how the education systems are run and really help shape my viewpoints and overall values. Although it was a difficult adjustment at first I don’t think I would be the person I am today if I hadn’t decided to make that change. Looking back I might have changed a few things here and there but overall I’m glad I decided to make the change and go from a very conservative private school to a public
Whether the education system should be under public or private ownership has been a conversation piece across the world. Choosing between a public or a private school for one’s education is as important as deciding where to invest one’s hard-earned money—the consequences influence one’s life forever. In the United States, it is the law for every child to be educated. However, the decision as to where to go for one’s education is up to each individual. There is a great deal of debate as to which is the better option: for-profit private schools or one’s local public school. Ultimately, the decision is made regarding the individual student’s needs and capabilities; but if the opportunity is available, attending a private school is more beneficial. Notable alumni and current pupils, specialized curriculum, as well as dedicated teachers and school pride make this possible.
