The first position of chapter three is supportive of private schools.
This position feels that private schools prevent the public schools from having
a total monopoly over education by offering the community an alternative choice.
This choice also produces competition with public schools for student enrollment.
When we look at many school the one big difference would be in religion when we look at private and public many of the private high schools are catholic. My whole life I went to public school well till middle school then when entering my high school my mom decided to move to a private school in my hometown. It was something that I didn’t want nor did I believe was for me. Since growing up in private school you are used to the people you meet and the no uniform policy. When I first entered we were force to wear collared shirts not tennis and had to have are hair a natural color is was maybe a little too much for me.
Throughout the United States there are 116,240 K–12 schools. 23% of them are private schools. The other 77% are public schools. Some say private schools are better than public schools, while others say public schools are better. I can only speak the benefits many will receive from attending my school. Private schools were actually the only schools around before public schools started. The first private schools were established by the religious missionaries of the Roman Catholic Church in Florida and Louisiana. Organized systems of public education did not take shape until the 1840s. St Croix Lutheran is more efficient, safer, more reliable, and holds a much higher level of education, than the public school. St Croix teaches a faster and more educational curriculum than many other schools which allows students to excel more easily.
Education is the vital issue of our lives. And we try to get or provide our children with the most qualified and most suitable education for us. There is not of course just one type of school or education. There are public schools and private schools in today’s world. To decide which one we will choose and we have to know the differences and similarities about the public and private schools as well. We can compare the two types of K-12 schools in the light of some criteria such as things which are graduation rates, cost, teachers, safety and taught.
For some parents, deciding on a school for their children can be a difficult decision. Many parents do not spend much time thinking about it; they place their children into the local school designated by where they live. Others attended a private school themselves and found that it was a beneficial experience and therefore want the same for their kids. But which is better: private schools or public schools? While there are many advantages and disadvantages in each (nothing is going to be absolutely perfect), we are going to focus on the benefits of an education in the public school system, or in other words, schools funded by the government that are for anyone to attend. An accurate definition found in the Encyclopedia of American Education (1996) states: “Any elementary or secondary school under control of elected or appointed civil authority, supported entirely by public tax monies, and, with few exceptions, open to all students in a designated district, free of any tuition charges.” (780) These include elementary, secondary schools and vocational schools. Public schools are a good choice in education because they provide a wide variety of subjects to study, are diverse in their student body, available to everyone, yet can sometimes be misunderstood.
In modern day many people struggle with parenting philosophies and which one to choose from. Never before have there been so many variations. And a part of that is an age old debate between private and public schools. This has come increasingly often from pro-private parents have been demanding for school choice. School choice is the Idea that if a parent wants to send their child, or children to private school, then the government should have to pay for as much of their kids education as they would have if the child had attended public school. Obviously this is a very controversial topic of opinion that has stirred up a lot of emotions. And in the article “Private Versus Public” by GreatSchools.com they attempt to shove past this confusion and disorientation

“Private vs. Public”
Education is fundamental in today’s society. It has become a sought after medium for attaining success. Many careers have set specific educational requirements for a person to even be considered for employment. The education that one receives can be achieved through different types of institutes. Many parents face the conundrum of sending their children to the right institution that will aid in their child’s future success.
Charter schools are public schools that are publicly funded, usually locally, and are established by teachers of the school, parents of attending children, or even community groups under the terms of a charter with a local or national authority. Public charter schools are intended to improve our nation in the terms of the public schooling system. Charter schools are public schools even though operate independently of school district, they do not discriminate against students and, as stated above, they are publicly funded based on enrollment. Charter schools seem to be the better choice due to consistently deliver higher test scores than public schools. Unlike private schools, which also deliver higher level of education, charter schools are paid for by tax dollars and are free and open to all parents, so in turn it gives a student the chance to get a private school education, while not having to pay the cost of Private schools. Vouchers shouldn't be given to Private schools due to the difficulty of Public schools. Public schools have to except anyone, they cannot turn anyone due to test scores, race, or any discriminatory reasons, while private schools can be as discriminative as they wish. Public schools also have a harder time paying off books, teachers, classrooms, and other educational expenses. Also, giving Vouchers towards a Religious private school could violate the first amendment in a sense of separation of state and church. Public schools are subject to government oversight and more rules & regulation. There for there will be tighter control placed on the teaching methods and system of education in public schools. Private schools get little to no oversight and with little or no oversight, private schools will perform ...
When it comes to equal opportunity and education, in receiving “quality education”, also directly implies studying in a more “quality environment.” This is why the education system should be more equal to everybody. Regardless of the system of the school rather it is private or public, students from upper or lower class do get the same education, just not the same treatment. Private school produces kids that are more presentable, but in no way they are any smarter than kids going to public schools.
