3. MARCO CONCEPTUAL

Through the study of the Peruvian society using articles like “The “Problem of the Indian...” and the Problem of the Land” by Jose Carlos Mariátegui and the Peruvian film La Boca del Lobo directed by Francisco Lombardi, it is learned that the identity of Peru is expressed through the Spanish descendants that live in cities or urban areas of Peru. In his essay, Mariátegui expresses that the creation of modern Peru was due to the tenure system in Peru and its Indigenous population. With the analyzation of La Boca del Lobo we will describe the native identity in Peru due to the Spanish treatment of Indians, power in the tenure system of Peru, the Indian Problem expressed by Mariátegui, and the implementation of Benedict Andersons “Imagined Communities”.
This paper will be exploring the book The Vanguard of the Atlantic World by James Sanders. This book focuses upon the early 1800 to the 1900 and explores the development of South American political system as well expresses some issues that some Latino counties had with Europe and North America. Thus, Sanders focus is on how Latin America political system changes throughout this certain time and how does the surrounding countries have an effect as well on Latin political system. Therefore, the previous statement leads into some insight on what the thesis of the book is. Sanders thesis is, “Latin American’s believed they represented the future because they had adopted Republicanism and democracy while Europe was in the past dealing with monarchs
This text focuses on social structures as well as the function of a legitimate government. It introduces the idea of a “social contract”, and discusses a state of nature in which all beings are naturally in until joining
The documentary, South of the Border, informs its viewers about the conflict between South American leaders and the institutions of the United States, mainly the government and media. The events shown and narrated through the film may be interpreted with the use of sociological theories, which is the main purpose of this film analysis. This paper aims to explain the causes of the realities presented through concepts and theories from the field of Sociology.
“Concepts evolve from experiences; their definitions and meanings reflect the theorist educational background, perspectives, and the theoretical framework that guide their work” (Melesis, 2012, p.341). The concept can be derived from the knowledge acquired by the theorist. This paper will discuss ordinary concept being presented by Imogene King. A concept of analysis will be done using the eight steps outlined by Walker and Avant. The following steps will be addressed: selections of a concept, determine the aims of the concept, identifying the use of the concepts, defining the attributes, identify a case model, identify borderline, related, contrary, invented, illegitimate cases, identify antecedents’ consequences and empirical referents.
Since its release in 2000, the movie la comunidad has been very controversial. Some critics have said that this movie is a critical take on the globalization and the changes that the Spanish Society has undergone; whereas others said the opposite. When examined deeply, it can be seen that la comunidad is critical of both globalization and socialism. Therefore, I believe, this movie was a great example of the representation of the clash between the ideologies that Spain had during its socialist era and the ideologies that Spain had under the influence of globalization with the makers favoring the latter.
The social structure during the waning era of Porfirio Diaz’s reign can best be described as a highly rigid hierarchical establishment, with the elite being reluctant to cede power in any sense to the growing middle class, which consequentially lead to a complete alienation of the lower classes and a growing anti-Diaz sentiment. For the reasoning behind this reluctance to embrace the new intelligentsia and middle class on...
Latin American identity, something so simple yet so powerful, an idea that has caused numerous countries great political, cultural, and economical problems. Something that has been lost at times and forced back into play, an ongoing dream that has taken its toll on an entire continent. In Calle 13’s song “Latinoamerica”, the idea of Latin American identity is portrayed through the thoughts of an actual Latin American. In this piece, Calle 13 brings up numerous issues occurring in todays Latin America. It is a manifest against great economic instability in Latin America, ongoing political issues, and what true Latin American identity means. Calle 13 brings these points up with great precision, for example “Soy una fábrica de humo, mano de obra
This section will seek to explain the key aspects which form the basis of the main argument. The main focus on the essay looks into a political community which is a collective arrangement between individuals that is intrinsically linked by a political relationship that encompasses rights and duties to all its members, it is through such membership that privileges and obligations are formed and are usually demarcated by political boundaries which draws a clear line between members and outsiders (Munoz 2012: 57). The virtue of membership to a political community is closely linked to the construct of the state and ...
Our concepts govern our thoughts and structure what we perceive, right down to our daily functioning. Thus, it plays a central role in defining everyday realities (Lakoff & Johnson 1980, p.12). However, we are usually not aware of our conceptual system and we act and think more or less automatically along certain lines everyday.
A concept is a mental image tat summarizes a set of similar observations, feelings, or ideas. "Concepts such as substance-free housing require an explicit definition before they are used in research because we cannot be certain that all readers will share the same definition. It is even more important to define concepts such as poverty or social control or strain, we cannot be certain that others know exactly what we mean." The meaning of concepts is often disputed among experts and illuminating the meaning of such concepts does not simply benefit those unfamiliar with them. In order to do ample work of conceptualization, we need more than just a definition, for our concepts. We will probably have to distinguish inner aspects of the concept. Conceptualization is defined as "The process of specifying what we mean by a term. In deductive research, conceptualization helps to translate portions of an abstract theory into testable hypotheses involving specific variables.
Dahlberg (1974) formulated concept theory grounded on a triangle model consists of respective referent, characteristics, and its designation. Her theoretical framework benefits a handful researchers in the KO field, even though there is a limitation (Friedman and Thellefsen, 2011). Recently, she claims that the study of conceptual framework in KO remains to be discovered and understood, and continues to construct a better conceptual classification scheme based on four content-determinant types of relationships (Dahlberg, 2014, p.86). A possibility of achieving a better conceptual framework might rest on the understanding of Semiotic theory.
In these forms of reasoning it is possible to distinguish contingent aspects with regard to the role which the use of a method and the application of a procedure play within any conceptual process: communicable by virtue of the codes and the prescribed norms, comparable in every time and place by virtue of the reproducibility of the procedures.
