Pride and Prejudice is set some 200 years ago in England. When the story opens, we are introduced to the Bennett family on their estate, Longburn. A handsome, wealthy gentleman named Charles Bingley has just moved to the neighborhood. Charles develops a crush for Jane Bennett, but his friend, Fitzwilliam Darcy, thinks Jane is not good enough for his friend. Becauseof this, Darcy, along with the help of Charles' sisters', plots to break up Jane and Charles. In themean time, though, Darcy falls for Jane's sister, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Bennett, though, detests Darcy. She sees him as being to haughty. She hears, through word of mouth that he is rude and cheated George Wickham out of his inheritence. Then, George begins to court Jane.
Since Mr. Bennett has no sons, his heir is to be the closest male to the family. This turns out to be a man named Mr. Collins. Collins is a priest who is very arrogant. He marries Elizabeth's friend, Charlotte Lucas. Charlotte marries Collins to get away from he life, not for love.
Because Elizabeth frequently visits her friend Charlotte, who lives with Darcy's aunt, she sees Darcy often. Darcy beings to ask Elizabeth to marry him, but each time she refuses. She's angry at him for breaking up Jane and Bingley's love affair, and because she was led to believe he stole George Wickham's inheritance. Darcy admitted to interfering with her sisters' relationship, but denies any involvement with Wickham and his inheritence. He claims Wickham is not what he appears to be, but actually is a dishonest.
At this point, Elizabeth is beinging to like Darcy. She goes on a trip with her aunt and uncle to Darcy's mansion. While there, his housekeeper tried to cinvince Elizabeth what a great person Darcy is.

In the letter, mr.darcy reveals that the real dispute between wickham and himself came from the fact that their wickham had attempted to marry darcy's sister and she had refused. And as for Jane and mr.bingley's issue, he believed he had done it for the best interest of mr.bingley.
Even after he fell in love with her and proposed to Elizabeth, he completely debased her family. Darcy realized eventually that he was going to have to change. He tried to look at his behavior. and analyze why he acted as he did. In the end, he fought his intense pride so that he and Elizabeth could be happy together.

She sacrifices another chance at a secure life when she rejects Me. Darcy's affection. Instead of just pretending to like and forgive him, she openly expresses how upset she is with him when she finds out Mr. Darcy purposely told Mr. Bingley not to be with Jane because she knows that they were truly in love. She is not sad because her sister lost out on a rich man, instead she is upset because Jane lost what was probably the love of her life. This is truly upsets Elizabeth because it is going against her belief in true love.
She emphasizes that marriages can only be successful if they are founded on mutual love. Elizabeth and Darcy 's relationship is really different from all the others in the novel. Elizabeth does not care about him being super rich and he does not find her the most beautiful. At the beginning, he thinks she is “tolerable”. They do not like each other at the beginning, they argue a lot and are really sassy towards each other. They are the opposite of amiable. Their relationship is far beyond just physical attraction. Darcy secretly helps out with Lydia 's situation. He does not want Elizabeth to be hurt nor does he want her family to ruin their repuation. He helps Elizabeth and does not bring it up, let alone brag about it. Love is not boastful. This shows the reader how contrasting Darcy and Collins ' characters are. “Elizabeth 's heart did whisper, that he had done it for her...” She has a feeling that Darcy is the one who helped out but she is not one hundred percent sure. Elizabethis wistful about saying so many bad things about him and she regrets her little speech when she rejected him. When Jane and Elizabeth return home, Mr. Collins, a young clergyman who stands to inherit Mr. Bennet?s property, is there visiting their household. During his stay with the Bennet?s, he makes a marriage proposal to Elizabeth. She turns his offer down and injures his pride. Meanwhile, the Bennet girls have made friends with the military officers stationed nearby. One of those military officers is Wickham, a handsome young soldier who likes Elizabeth and tells her how Darcy cheated him out of an inheritance.
One might find themselves swept away into a world of romance, excitement and refinement, as well as several other illustrations of the 17th century. The storyline is only the beginning of the great elements in this movie; the scenery alone makes it well worth the time invested. The elegance, lifestyle, and romance are what make Pride and Prejudice the movie that it is today. This movie portrays, in an ideal manner, what it would have been like to live in that culture in an ideal manner. Comparing and contrasting Darcy and Elizabeth are relevant to relationships now. Now, just like people now and back then, many people get into relationships for many of the wrong reasons. One reason is for the possibility of gain from the other person’s money and/or wealth. Darcy realized that her family was hungry. Today, many families have become estranged due to money issues and complications.
Charles Bingley is the new neighbor of the Bennet family. He is “quiet young, wonderfully handsome, extremely agreeable” (11), amiable, and modest. As “a single man of large fortune; four or five thousand a year” (6), Mr. Bingley immediately becomes the focus of Mrs. Bennet’s wishes involving marriage for her daughters. Mr. Bingley is often accompanied by Fitzwilliam Darcy, who is a very proud man. Elizabeth Bennet, who is proud of herself, and Mr. Darcy are not fond of one another from the start, these two characters pose the central conflict in the novel. As the novel progresses, Elizabeth receives a marriage proposal from her cousin, Mr. Collins, and turns him down. Mr. Collins then proposes to Charlotte Lucas, Elizabeth’s best friend, who accepts. Elizabeth then leaves home to stay with, the Collins’ who live near Lady Catherine de Bourgh, Mr. Darcy’s aunt.
