Preventing Sex Trafficking in Europe
Most people do not associate slavery with sex trafficking, but when you think about it, they are a lot alike. Sex trafficking is similar to slavery as it violates human’s basic rights. People are involuntarily exploited sexually and are victims of physical and psychological pain. These people are used for their bodies in order to gain profit for their owners. The victims of sex trafficking are striped of the right to be free and deserve to have a quality of life. Money and power play a significant role in the industry and awareness can help protect the victims and help prevent this from reoccurring. Sex trafficking should be illegal everywhere and perpetrators should be held highly accountable for their actions and pay for the pain and suffering they have made their victims face. This paper will answer questions to the following:
1. What is sex trafficking?
2. How do the perpetrators lure in victims?
3. What psychological and emotional traumas do the victims experience?
4. How much money is generated through the industry?
5. How can we prevent sex trafficking?
Preventing sex trafficking can save a person from becoming a victim and by understanding in depth the hardships and circumstances these people experience, can help us provide incentives to put a halt to this issue.

Sex trafficking relates to exploitation by the use of force, fraud, coercion or deceit, and most notably refers to forced prostitution or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labor or services, slavery or practices similar to slavery, servitude, and the removal of internal organs (Edward R. Sex trafficking should be illegal everywhere and perpetrators should be held highly accountable for their actions and pay for the pain and suffering they have made their victims face. Sex trafficking is dehumanizing and cruel. Women who do not consent to selling their own bodies, like prostitution, are responsible for themselves, whereas; someone else sells your body for sex to gain profit for themselves. It is important to be aware of what is happening around you, keep a look out for red flags, and talk about sex trafficking with others. The more awareness that is spoken about this topic, the better the outcome and hopefully more people become educated about it.
