President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, was instrumental in his efforts to reshape and rebuild the United States from a struggling state making his endeavors a personal attachment in American history.
First of all, Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s background consisted of, growing up in the country of New York. He attended private school, following Harvard and Colombia law school paving the way for his future civic duty, according to, Faragher, 2009. In 1910, Roosevelt served as an assistant secretary of the Navy from 1913 through 1920. He later then was nominated to become the democratic vice president in 1920. The following year, Roosevelt was diagnosed with polio, enduring a hardship of personal courage and struggle. In 1928, Roosevelt served two constitutive terms as New York’s mayor. He improved the city by generating unemployment insurance, provided retirement to the elderly, and instilled a tax relief system for farmers, (Faragher, 2009, p.668).
In Roosevelt’s early years he had the education to become a great leader, undertaking personal challenges and political obstacle he overcame personal and city improvements. Roosevelt’s succeeding challenge would be to lead a struggling nation.
On march 4, 1933 following Roosevelt’s inaugural addressing to the country, many people were frighten and fled to the banks to withdraw there money from failing banks. As a result Roosevelt issued out a bank holiday to all the banks across the nation in order to prevent further financial struggle. As a result, congress focused on passing the Emergency Banking Act. Other examples to name a few are, modernized rural American farmlands, (Faragher, 2009, p.674) and was able to manage and recover from an environmental disaster, (Faragher, 2009, p.675). Roosevelt, would later led America into World War II defeating Hitlers, Nazis movement in Europe and the Japanese in the Pacific. Franklin D. Roosevelt was the right fit for America during the great depression and into World War II, he was a secure and confident leader that brought inspiration and optimism to many Americans in this era and left a marker for other leader to follow. Roosevelt’s died in office, from a stroke on April 12, 1945.
