Your whole life depends on how well you do and the decisions you make as a teenager. Adults are always asking us about our plans for the future. As a matter of fact, students do not have the slightest idea of what awaits them. High school, in general, does not prepare students well enough for their departure into the real world. After four years of being here I am certainly not prepared to leave. The simplicity of high school is what makes it fun and effortless. It gives students a sense of belonging, which is something you are unlikely to have out in the real world. There are essential life skills that high school simply does not teach students.
Regardless of the courses you take in high school, it is generally a plain, modest and pure institution. Students have a set schedule and they are not presented with many challenges other than completing assigned work for the relevant classes. I have to admit that I will not look fondly on my high school career. I spent most of my study time going out with my friends. I felt that I was paying my dues with the eight hours of boredom that began most of my days. Until now there were only a few classes that I enjoyed. In retrospect, I believe that it was my inability to choose the classes I took which resulted in my lack of enthusiasm on the ride to school each morning.
The purpose of a high school education is to prepare one for college and ultimately, the workforce. By the end of freshman year, in high school, the average student has learned a sufficient amount of material in enough subjects that he or she can be considered "well-rounded" in his or her studies. This is because the rate at which material is covered in schools, across the nation, has increased dramatically compared to the past. Students now learn more advanced curriculum at a younger age, and this continues to become more evident year after year. High school has now become more focused on teaching students a small amount of information on several essential subjects, rather than having them focus deeply on the subjects they seek to pursue in their career.
It's unbelievable how each year, since the beginning of high school, my perfectly laid plans for myself have unavoidably deteriorated. When I entered my freshman year, I had aspirations of being a doctor (something I had wanted to be since I was a child). Now, here I am entering my senior year in high school without any idea of what I want to do. Now seems to be the time to start taking life seriously and making responsible, educated choices.
Being in high school is lots of fun but there are a couple of things that you should and really shouldn't do in the four years coming up. Two ways that these four years can go are either really good or really bad this is supposed to be the best years of your life if you chose to make it. The next four years are all up to you if you want to fail go ahead, but in order to do what you want and have fun these years you need to do your part and try at school.
As a freshman, I have three long years to go to finish high school. It seems like a long time but every year, the school year passes by even faster. Just this freshman year, I have grown as a student by investigating the world/taking action. I have also been preparing for college and looking into some scholarships. Even though I want to do well and grow intellectually, I want to enjoy my high school experience. It is not going to be an easy task. But everything at this point will affect my future.
My High School life has helped shape the way for my college experiences that I will face. My senior year in high school is not the same as many other high school students. I am taking many advanced classes to help me prepare for college. These classes help me better understand exactly how much harder I must work to succeed.
All or most of us have gone through it. The countless hours we spent filling out college applications, scholarship applications, visiting colleges, and taking the dreaded tests. Whether it was the PSAT, SAT, ACT, or other college entrance exams, it was a big hassle. After visiting such a great number of colleges, the advantages and disadvantages of the schools seemed to run together in my mind. The endless paper work and deadlines seemed as though they would never end. When I thought about college, it seemed like it was not real, like it was a figment of my imagination. I imagined what it would be like, wondering where I would go. The questions of "What did I want to major in?" and after I decided that, "What schools had my major?" circled around in my head. When filling out questionnaires for college searches I was asked about what size college I preferred, whether I wanted to be in a rural or suburban area. Did I really know how to answer these questions that would so greatly affect the next four years of my life?
When thinking of high school the first thing I think of is freedom . When you are in high school you are usually the age where you can drive and do things on your own . Highschool is not like the movies show it. Jocks are not always bullies, books are not slapped out of people’s hands on a daily basis, and getting A’s does not make someone a nerd. It is some of the most important years an individuals life. Highschool most of the time determines someones appearance to the world until they are an adult. If you do something amazing in highschool many people will remember you for it. The same thing goes for doing something with serious consiquences as well. Highschool is a tornado that consists of friendships, sports/clubs, and what one will do with their life after highschool.
Life After High School I’ve just entered my senior year of high school. I know that this is a very important year. I have a lot of decisions to make and not much time to make them. These decisions will either make or break my life, and I want to make sure that I make them to the best of my ability, because there is no turning back. I need to make sure I definitely want to attend college.
Going to school and getting a great education is important for a successful future in today’s world. Years ago, many children did not go to school and many young adults opted to work instead of attending college. In today’s society, gaining a high level of education is almost always mandatory for many jobs. There are many changes being done to the education system along with new items and ways of teaching in the classroom. There is a growing amount of changes in the classroom such as technology, teaching time, teaching styles, and freedom of space.
Youth faces an uncertain future - it always has in one way or another. The progression from parental dependency to self-sufficiency and independence has always been (and will continue to be) a difficult one. The stresses of successfully completing high school are compounded by peer pressure, personal and family relationship problems, and the natural problems inherent in being an adolescent. As well, today, moreso than in yesteryear, there is an ever-present temptation to turn to drugs and alcohol, either as an escape route, or in order to cope with it all. Doing well at school does not guarantee a future career path, even if the correct choices are known and made. "Starting at the bottom" no longer means that you will get to the top one day.
I am only kidding. It's just when you're young it is easy to get caught up in the here and now, and hard to look to the future. I thought high school would never end and now here we are on the brink of having to go out into the world and actually support ourselves!? I now feel like I never really appreciated my time here and never realized what a valuable experience it would be for me. I spent so much time complaining about high school, I never really had anytime left over to just enjoy myself. There are so many experiences from high school we will all carry with us through out our whole lives and will ultimately help determine what kind of person we are.
Time flies so fast. Looking back, my high school is just like a movie, a lot of things happened. High School is four years of growing up and probably a time in your life where you go through the most changes. In high school you are able to discover yourself and find out who you are as a person. Each year is special and unique in their own way. My journey through high school was a tough one, especially because I decided to not only focus on academic work but also to invest quality time in extra curriculum activities. I wanted more than just academic excellence; I wanted to be a leader, I wanted to add value to every aspect of my life, I wanted a rounded education and not just mere schooling. My success story is what I will like to share with you; how I really made it and how this defines my personality. My journey in High School was scary, exciting, and successful.
