Minorities have a powerful position in sports which possibly affect them both negatively and positively. Through this research, I will identify and define various roles of power minorities have in sports. Many factors, both positive and/or negative can affect the power of minorities’ positions in sports. This research will show my intent to measure how certain factors such as environment, opportunity, gender, and individual sports could affect individuals of minority in sports. This study will determine if and how environment, opportunity, gender, and the individual sport itself can change or impact the power minority sportsmen have in their position.

The objective of this study is to identify and define various roles of minorities in sports and to also explain how powerful their positions are. It is important for our youth of minorities with dreams and aspirations of becoming sportsmen, as well as those who already are, to become aware of the position of power they have. It is also necessary that individuals from all walks of life understand the position of power minorities have in sports as well. Minorities, sometimes, do not understand the power of their position when playing sports. The power of minorities’ positions in sports can change and/or differ based on many variables. The dependent variable in this study will be minority sportsmen. The independent variables that will affect the minority sportsmen will be their environment, opportunity, and individual sport(s). Also, the online surveys will be a great way to increase the population from one region to many. Sportsmen of minority affect all populations whether it be personally, politically, or economically. Therefore, it is imperative to include the points-of-view of many different individuals in both positive and negative aspects of those variables, whether it be their environment, opportunity, gender, or individual sport(s). For example, the power a minority sportsman experiences may be influenced more positively or negatively based on his/her gender in an individual sport. There alone, we may learn of two variables that may work together or independently to influence minority sportsmen’s power in their position in sports. I will be interviewing minority student athletes, as well as past athletes and coaches who can shed light on their experiences and distinguish changes/evolution of their position of power as a minority through the generations. I will also host various focus groups with minority sportsmen that are similar in age ranging from grade school through college in regards to identify the power they hold in their position as minority
