I want to be a nurse, specifically a nurse practitioner. I have always been fascinated with the medical field and see a bright future in it for me. I am pursuing nursing because it is a combination of helping and teaching others, applying science, and giving back to society- all while making a good, secure living with plenty of options. To me, the core of nursing is to help patients feel better physically and emotionally as much as possible. In my mind, nursing should focus on improving health and quality of life for patients, both by directly caring for them and by doing research and advocacy. My vision for myself is that as a nurse, I will learn to balance quality with efficiency, to take care of patients comprehensively, to be a good teammate, and to promote the integrity of healthcare.
You go three years of high school preparing for college and at the same time having fun. Until you are in your senior year of high school that’s when you realize and start asking your self what college do I want to go to? Or what college career I want to pursue? That’s when you notice you have but so little time to answer these questions. Me I’m in my last year of high school and I though I already knew what career I wanted to pursue, but its now that I notice that not even I know what I’m going to do with my life? All I’m sure of its that I’m going to graduate out of high school with a diploma and that I’m going to college. But what happens after that? What major did I study? Or where did I go to accomplish my goal?
I have always had a passion for nursing. As a child, I watched my mother getting up early, putting her scrubs on and headed out the door for a 12 hour shift. She was always content, and at ease to go for a long shift and even overtime at times. I love the fact that after work, she would always come home, satisfied with the day no matter how hard it was for her. She would sit and tell my brothers and sisters how she enjoyed the conversations that she had with her patients and what impact she had on their lives that day. Listening to these stories as a child, I knew that I wanted to become a nurse and listening to the same stories and helping people, making their day feel better. I wanted to follow my mom’s footsteps. At the end of a long shift, it is a rewarding profession, knowing that I am saving people’s lives, making them comfortable when they are near of dying, advocate and teaching them. As nurses, we care for patients through illness, injury, aging, health. We also promote health, prevent diseases and teaching the community; that’s what I love about nursing. I believe that this is the right profession for me because I have all the qualities that a nurse should possess when
Growing up I always knew I wanted to be a person that someone relied on and trusted. At first I wanted to be a teacher, because I loved interacting with other people. As I grew up, I realized that I loved the relationships that the nurses built with my grandparents when they had to stay at the hospital. That made me realize that nursing was not just about giving people their medications, bathing them, and checking on them every hour. It showed me that nursing can be an opportunity to form relationships, to challenge yourself to your full potential, and also to help make a difference in someone life. I grew up in a small town that just recently got their first hospital, so there was not much opportunity to volunteer in hospitals when I
My three college choices are University of Florida, University of Seattle and Ohio University. Each of these colleges have good qualities for my careers. I’m not very sure what exactly I want to have a career in. Two of my main choices are veterinarian or child care. Some of my concerns are the distance, cost of tuition, the quality of the program, and the recreation at the colleges.
Nursing wasn't always something I thought about doing as years ago I had very little knowledge about a nurse and what a nurse does. In the beginning my job aspiration was to be a veterinarian, then slowing realizing that wasn't the job for me as you had to put down animals, then went off to believe being a doctor was the fit for me since I mostly went
In my research, I have learned that there are many types of nursing careers. Depending on what type of nurse I decide to become depends on how much schooling I need. I think I would enjoy nursing because I enjoy helping others and I like the medical field. The only thing I am worried about is my health while caring for patients. I know how easy it can be to spill a chemical or stick myself with a needle, but I am not going to let that hold me back from becoming a nurse. This is why I think I would become a good nurse.
With all the independence and freedom that recent high school graduates possess, they should carefully ponder the possible options that exist. Through abiding by the “check the destination before the ticket is purchased” adage, high school graduates can competently guide their personal journeys in college life or the real world. Regardless of the path chosen, college students and those who immediately enter the workforce will ultimately decide their future destinations. In addition, while graduates pursue their dreams, goals must be set and diligently fostered. The necessity of a college and/or career game plan is crucial, and should not be disregarded. Before Dr. King ended his “I Have a Dream” speech he declared, “Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning.” Similarly, high school graduation is not a finish line, but a starting gun.
I have been interested in health care professions for most of my life, but more specifically with nursing. My interest in nursing has grown more this past year after I had a conversation with a nurse. She told me that she loved her job and that it was satisfying helping people everyday. She also went on to tell me that it was never boring and that interesting things happened very often. I have researched about careers in nursing and I believe that I would enjoy it because I think that it would be great to be able to help people. Nursing is much more than just a career. To me nursing is helping and bettering the life of the sick or the infirm. Nursing is the practice of providing care for the sick and is a healthcare profession that plays an integral part within everyday life of people around the world, yet many do not know that there is much more to nursing than just that.
Registered nurses have a high level of respect in the medical field for quite a few different reasons. Considering nurses help save lives and care for people in their time of need, there exists a pronounced deal of pride nurses have because of what they do. Registered nursing is my dream career, but in order to become one, I must accomplish multiple goals and meet various requirements. First, I must meet the extensive educational requirements needed to become a registered nurse. Second, I will need to make sure I can meet all of the job requirements-both mental and physical. Lastly, nursing offers various personal benefits both in and out of the workplace. For these reasons, I believe nursing is the ideal career for myself to work with.
