1. A teacher can provide a positive means of communication to parents or guardians through a take home folder.
a. For elementary students, parents usually like to know how their students are progressing, performing and behaving in school, sometimes even down to the smallest details. To avoid some of the meticulous emails, parent phone calls and meeting but still meet both parents and teacher needs, I believe a positive method of communication can be created. For this, I like the idea of a folder that goes back and forth between home and school every day. This is a great way for both parents and teachers to slips notes in the folder for simple communication, student’s graded homework, and progress reports to encourage the parents on what their

A genius method of questioning and discussing my supervising teacher uses is a “Number Talk.” With attentive students gathered on the carpet square, she reveals two blank rectangular ten’s tables on the smart board. Each problem shows a varying number of circular pieces scattered throughout the two tables. The students are then able to raise their hands, stand in front of the board and explain their “strategy” of how they have counted the pieces to the class. Prior to the number talk, the teacher has taught her students counting methods like partners of ten, counting by buddies, and counting by fives. When presenting their counting strategy to the class, they are encouraged to use the methods they’ve already been taught. I enjoy this part of the day’s lesson for two reasons: seeing how excited the students are to share their strategy and seeing how the teacher assess her students through questioning and discussion to better understand how their minds are working to count the figured before them, especially when she is surprised at how well the student problem solved! When asking and discussing aloud, the teacher can guide the student, and the observing class, to improve or praise the strategy being presented by the student, as well as gauge how much they are learning or applying the methods taught prior to the “Number Talk.” The students are not merely repeating strategies out of a lesson plan or textbook, they are encouraged to incorporate their own
There is a monthly open school morning that the PTO has in the auditorium for parents to come by and be informed about what is going on in the school. Various programs and grades offer workshops and meeting. Every Tuesday from 2:40pm- 4pm the school has that time frame allotted for parent engagement. Parents do not have to wait to meet with teacher on the two designated parents teachers conference. Each Tuesday, the parents can come in and meet with any of their child’s teachers without an appointment. The parents can discuss any concerns or issues regarding with their child’s academics or behaviors performance. Also, the school engages parents by using an electronic system called N-grade. N-grade is a parent portal where parents login and look at their child’s assignments. The portal shows their child’s assignment grades, missing assignments and assignments they can make up to earn back their grades.

...heir families at home. Lessons in the classroom would relate to daily activities and skills, and wherever possible personalized to family’s culture and interests. From my experience working in a public elementary school in Virginia, I have met a number of teachers who use the interactive homework strategy to promote learning at home. It results in families being more aware of their child’s activities and progress in school and increases their communication level with the teachers.
As a future educator, I want to create a system to where my students’ parents know exactly what their child has learned that week, any problems that have arose, their strengths and weaknesses, and what they can do at home to ensure their child is growing academically. This could be done through a simple note home that the parent would have to sign. I think that as a teacher, I must remedy students academic problems through communication with the parents. Whether I am communicating directly or indirectly with parents, the outcome can only be better than what it would be without any communication at all.

Counting all is the base that serves as the foundation for the development of the other strategies. Count all introduces students in Kindergarten to the concept of creating a total by counting all the numbers once the two amounts have been represented by a drawing or fingers (Common Core Standards Writing Team, 2011). Simultaneously, the count on strategy draws from the knowledge acquire as the student progress on the count all method. For this approach, students learn to determine the total of the two addends by counting on from any of the addends. Lastly, students can use a recomposing strategy. The recomposing strategy encourages students to discover the sum by creating sets of numbers that equal the original digit, but are easier to manage. For instance, creating doubles or tens out of odd numbers.
Good personal care is a part of positive working practice as if a client personal care is not cared for in the right manner then the client will have poor health and well-being, and may be disrespected. It is important for a client to have good personal care as this will prevent them from health issues such as fungus infections e.g. athlete foot, toe nail fungus infections etc. Positive working practice with personal care includes aspects such as appropriate touch which includes being clear to the client about why they are using touch, also they have to take into consideration gender and cultural factors when using touch. Personal preference and emotional state this means asking the client how they would prefer to be helped and allow them as much independence in which the staff thinks it is safe. General hygiene, toileting and safety when looking after someone who has limited mobility or has problem balancing, are also elements of positive practice when implementing personal care to a client .Person...
The Home to School Connection is an essential component to having a successful and effective school year for each individual student. Establishing a parent-teacher relationship helps improve many things. It gives parents an opportunity to show interest in their child's education. This would promote good behavior and self discipline for students. It would also promote an open line of communication.
Teachers, parents, and the students all become better communicators when being involved in the process of inclusion into mainstream schooling. Teachers learn that communication can be key, while parents can alert teachers if their child is having a bad day. Due to the fact that the simplest things could affect the student drastically, the idea of open communication between teacher and parents is vital, since the parents will learn these tendencies before anyone else. Communication also works well the other way. If the student has a bad day a...
Communication is the establishment or a give-and-take of thoughts, ideas, emotions and understanding between a sender and a receiver. It is essential to building and maintaining relationships in the workplace. Some highly productive and dynamic organizations are distinctly different and striking due to their excellent skills in communication.
Communication is something we all humans use. Communication “is the sharing of information between individuals by using speech”. People have ways of communicating some have their weaknesses in conversations and others have their strengths. When I communicate with others I feel that some things I say I do not verbalize right. I have two strengths and three weaknesses in my communicating. My three weakens in my communication are, check nonverbal feedback, to make people wrong and recognize that people understand information in different ways and my two strengths in my communication are being flexible, and take responsibility for the communication.
The purpose of this paper is not to teach you, or to show you how interpersonal communication is essential to everyday life at home or work. But, I am going to do my best to at least show you how essential communication skills are in all areas of life by using me as the example. My plan is to focus on some of the elements of interpersonal communication that we have been touching on this semester. While reading our Interpersonal Communications Book, three goals kept being highlighted that I personally wanted to accomplish by the end of course. I’m sure that by now have noticed that I keep referring to my topics as goals. The reason why I’m doing so is because I’m still on that learning curve…an ongoing process. If can recall back to all of our assignment in this course they all bring one collective point. That point is that, Interpersonal communication is an essential skill in everything that we do in life.

I believe in positive thinking because it is like a small plant which can grow huge with the help of some fertilizer and regular care. Similarly, the more I use positive thinking, the better I will be at it, and the more it will grow. I am not saying that it is easy to think positively all the time, but I believe that most of my thoughts and ideas should reflect happiness and positivity. To obtain happiness one needs to learn to be optimistic in even the most difficult situations. Positive thinking helps me find a way in tough situations.
In the reading it brings up how most parents are only contacted by the school when it is something bad. This is not how it should be. Teachers should be sending home good news notes to the parents praising the students for their hard work in the class. Schools also need to be welcoming to the families and provide workshops to assist in the parent’s knowledge to allow them to help their children with their schoolwork. Having the parents involved and aware of the things that are going on in the classroom and the school are great ways to build that relationship and to enhance the student’s academic achievement and
