Childcare is a very fun,beneficial environment for children, as well as parents. From personal experiences, daycare was beneficial for me because it helped me to break out my shell, it helped me to adapt to a daily routine, and it helped me to become very academically equipped. An advantage for my parents were that they could continue their jobs without having to worry about who would be taking care of me or if they would be able to go to work. It also gave them satisfaction that I was in a friendly, safe environment. I am looking forward to placing my children into daycare in the future. If my parents would not have placed me into daycare, I would not be the person I am today.
There are plenty other alternatives to daycare such as hiring a nanny or a babysitter. A family member or close friend could also be a great alternative. It may even be cheaper than placing a child in daycare. The problem occurs when these caregivers have to take sick days or even have other plans and simply cannot care for your child on that day. They are not as reliable as daycares which provide routine daycare hours.

Most daycare facilities have a daily routine set around play time, nap time, eating, and learning. When I was in daycare, I anticipated playtime and nap time, but my favorite activity was singing and dancing. I knew exactly when these activities would take place. Play time and other activities focus on physical and motor development. This also helps them to become prepared for real school where they will be required to follow a daily schedule.
