Position paper 2 While there is a ton of pros to legalizing marijuana there are also cons. Although I may be for the legalization I am still not one hundred percent convinced that it is perfect. One major concern is the lack of any real recorded long term marijuana effects on the population. Since marijuana was just recently legalized fully we haven’t been able to really see how this will affect the health of the population. Before it was legalized it was second in substance dependencies. Also there are still a lot of doctors sceptical on marijuana and it’s. Some think it could be very beneficial while others still see it as extremely harmful. Another major concern is the ability of minors to obtain marijuana. With all of the new forms of …show more content…
There is also a contamination risk with selling marijuana. They have found things like mold, mildew, E. coli, and salmonella in marijuana. There has actually been reported deaths from contaminated Marijuana. One article by R Hamadeh reports that a 34 year old man who was admitted to the hospital for Leukemia ended up having extreme symptoms which caused his death. Upon later investigation they had discovered that he had been smoking Marijuana very heavily weeks prior to his admission. They ended up testing the Marijuana he was smoking and ended up finding out that the Marijuana was not clean and had fungus growing on it. This caused the man to get Aspergillosis which is an infection you get from inhaling certain fungi. The Aspergillosis from the Marijuana is what ended up causing his death, not the leukemia. There are multiple articles about CBS stated in their article “How safe is Colorado’s legalized Marijuana?” that the federal government has stated that they will not be testing marijuana for consumers since marijuana is still illegal at a federal level. The FDA would usually take it into their own hands to make sure almost any product Americans consume is safe excluding Marijuana. This means that testing …show more content…
In 2012 Marijuana possession crimes in Denver was one-thousand five-hundred or so. This saw a decline in the years to come with with 2013 only having six-hundred accounts of possession related crimes, and 2014 having even less with only three-hundred. However while the possession rate was high in 2012 the public display or consumption was at only eight. In 2013 they would see a rise of about two-hundred accounts, however once Marijuana was legalized there was a massive increase bring the accounts up to nine-hundred. It seems to me like the reason possession fell in 2014 was due to the fact that you were legally allowed to carry a certain amount of Marijuana on your person. The legalization ended up leading to more people being caught smoking out in public and in
Many people say that marijuana should not be legalized in the United States, however, another percentage of the society says that marijuana should be legalized. Those who agree and disagree need to inform themselves about the pros and cons of marijuana. It is very important to see different point of views from each side because there are several consequences and benefits that the use of marijuana can cause. Legalizing marijuana can be dangerous because many people are not informed of the diseases they can get from using drugs. In most cases people try marijuana to see how it feels and how their bodies react, but there are many who try it once and they keep on doing it very often. Marijuana should not be legalized in the United States because
Leadership training programs allow for teachers to use their professional experience as an educator and combine it with the academic and hands on experience of being a leader by providing a comprehensive program. Leadership “…is learnable by providing real world leadership training” (Ramsey, 2006, p.xx). The training program prepares educators to be leaders and equips them with the tools necessary to be an effective leader. There is a need for an “,,,infusion ...

Medical marijuana is referred to parts of herb cannabis that is used as a form of medicine or herbal therapy. These parts contain the compounds that produce the mild altering effect that recreational users seek when smoking or ingesting the plant. Researches have shown that it is able to provide chronic pain relief. Marijuana has been used as a folk or traditional remedy for a variety of health conditions for many of years. Medical marijuana is a management tool that can reduce patient’s pain and improve quality of life, without the same serious side effects associated with use of pharmaceutical pain relievers.
Some of the pros of legalizing marijuana are that it is in the medical field it can be use in treatments for several diseases like AID, Epilepsy, and other conditions, and marijuana is not addictive so it the possibilities of substances abuse is not as greater as if it was addictive. Also by legalizing marijuana the crime rate would go down dramatically. Some of the cons would be that someone who uses marijuana still has the chance to damage his or her respiratory system, immune system, and the brain which can leads to health problems. Also it could lead to the over use of the substances by children and adolescents. No one can know for sure what is more ethical to let people smoke marijuana or to keep the ban on it, but the fact of the matter is that either way it is going to be
People should stop arguing about the use of marijuana and how marijuana is bad, because people only like to research the cons instead of including the pros. Despite the fact that people believe everything they hear, they should look up more and try to see how good marijuana can be for them. Marijuana is good for their health, and it has helped to cure people who are very ill. Marijuana is less harmful than tobacco or alcohol, there has been studies proven that people have died over drinking other than by smoking marijuana. Marijuana will be able to have less people prosecuted for the possession of carrying it around, which will help people not get arrested for a small amount of marijuana.
In building leadership capacity it is important to ensure that there is broad-based skillful participation. We want the students, parents, community, and staff to be participants. This is important because it allows for staff to take responsibility for the growth and development for not only themselves but for their peers in doing the work of leadership. It is helpful to have the community working together towards the common goal as opposed to ...
I am far more confident now supervising different grade levels that I would have been before the class and the program. I spent 14 years teaching at a large high school, however, I feel like now I could go into an elementary school and be an effective administrator. I now have the skill set to be able to guide teachers in the process of solving their own problems, working together effectively, and facilitating positive change. Many times a teacher knows what needs to be done they just need to work through the process in a nondirective way (Glickman, Gordon, Ross-Gordon, 2018).
Student leadership has roots tracing back to distributed leadership theory (Harris, 2009). While scholars and practitioners have only recently started to embrace distributed leadership, its origins date back to 1250 BC, making it one of the oldest leadership concepts recommended for achieving organizational goals (Oduro, 2004, p.4). The conceptualization of distributed leadership, as a theory, didn’t occur until the 1920’s (Harris, p.3). Gronn (2000) cites Gibb (1954) as declaring, “leadership is probably best conceived as a group quality…” Despite early interests in distributed leadership, scholars paid minimal attention to the topic for decades until Brown and Hosking (1986). Modern works of scholarship pertaining to topics such as “transformational” and “charismatic” leadership have given rise to a continued interest in distributed leadership amongst prominent researchers of the 1980’s and 1990’s. (e.g. Beck & Peters, 1981, Barry, 1996, Senge 1993,
Each population requires empowerment. That begins by offering opportunities for leaders to demonstrate their potential. First steps like creating shared documents, developing training materials, providing training to other providers, taking on supervisory responsibilities, and designing and participating in program evaluations open opportunities. Focusing and identifying the strengths in individuals and matching their talent to opportunities boosts confidence and builds leadership capacity in team members. Nurturing staff members as they take on leadership activities gives me the opportunity to mentor and coach. In doing so, I am growing as a leader, and so is the staff member. My role demands that I provide knowledge and skills when needed to fill any gaps that exist among developing leaders. At all levels of leadership, individualized and relevant training builds confidence. When training is dynamic, it requires continual monitoring to adjust to current needs. My leadership position gives me the opportunity to offer feedback and support to senior administrators during change initiatives so that they can tailor their leadership work in a way that supports the initiative, as well as the development of the leaders in their
The concept of distributed leadership evolved over the years due to the ever-increasing variety of complexities faced by both school leaders and teachers on a daily basis. Such circumstances require that decision-making authority spreads to different degrees across the school organisation (Supovitz & Tognatta, 2013; Elmore, 2000; Lambert, 2003; Spillane, Halverson, & Diamond, 2001).
I believe that marijuana should be legalized. Currently marijuana is legal, for both medicinal and recreational use in 24 states and The District of Columbia; with that, I don’t see why it can’t be legalized in all 50. Marijuana has more than 50 different uses, the main one being for medicinal purposes. I weed were to become legal, it would clear out a lot of space in our prisons. Which would help us to rebuild our economy. Also, it would fuel economic growth by creating a new income for the United States. People argue that marijuana is a gateway drug, meaning that it leads users to stronger, more dangerous drugs, but studies prove that assertion to be false. In conclusion, I believe that best thing for America is to legalize marijuana.
With America’s war on drugs being highly focused on the increased use of marijuana, there is not much time for officers to focus on crimes of greater importance. Crimes related to illegal marijuana use are becoming more problematic due to drug deals that go bad, occasionally ending with murder. It has been estimated that one marijuana-related arrest is made every 42 seconds. With marijuana being illegal, keeping crime related activities under control cost the United States approximately twenty billion dollars per year (Sledge). According to Brian Bremner and Vincent Del Giudice, “A 2010 study by the libertarian Cato Institute, forecasted that states could save $17.4 billion annually from reduced drug enforcement costs and increased tax revenue, assuming marijuana production and sales were legal nationwide” (11). Several law enforcement hours are exhausted with pursing, questioning, and arresting citizens that are in possession of or consuming marijuana. There would be a decrease in the number of misdemeanor possession cases that are pending hearing. These cases would be dismissed, decreasing costs affiliated with each case. There are excessive numbers of people who remain incarcerated for nonviolent crimes related to illegal marijuana use. Legalizing marijuana would allow these people to be released, opening jail space for the true criminals. Legalizing marijuana would free up law enforcement officers from focusing on illegal marijuana use and allow focus to be put on more serious
The legalization of marijuana is a controversial topic, but marijuana should be legalized because it has many positive effects and there is a lot of evidence to support why marijuana should be legalized in all states. Marijuana is a preparation of the cannabis plant and it can be used as a drug or as medicine. The primary component of cannabis is THC (Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol). This drug has mind-altering and physiological side effects when consumed. Marijuana can be used for spiritual reasons or recreationally. It is the third most popular recreational drug used in America, referring to “About Marijuana.” According to government surveys, more than 14 million Americans, out of 25 million Americans who have smoked marijuana within the past year, use marijuana habitually. Although marijuana is illegal in most
Looking at the true facts and benefits of legalizing marijuana can help one realize that it is not a bad idea. It is widely used around the world so one could say that there is already a market for it, but it is illegal. The government can take over this market and regulate it to make billions of dollars and decrease the amount of underage smoking at the same time. Many people look at marijuana as a bad thing, but alcohol and tobacco is no better and is actually worse. One could bet that, in a few years, all states will have a market for marijuana and many other countries, if not all, will too.
