When people are able to take time off of work to go on a vacation, people want to be able to enjoy good food, look at beautiful scenery, and participate in fun activities. The best travel location to meet all of those needs is Portland, Oregon. Portland is a fun city known for its unique and weird culture. Every day in Portland offers an opportunity to experience something new and have a wonderful vacation. This city is also just a short drive away from some of the world most beautiful mountains, national parks, and other geographic features. Portland is located near beautiful, scenic hiking and biking trails. OregonHikers.org, an online community dedicated to hiking and exploring in Oregon, details the many unique hiking opportunities in Portland. This resource offers detailed information on over four-hundred different hiking trails located in the Portland area. Trails range from easy to very difficult and are anywhere from 1 mile to 14 miles (“Semantic Search”). These hiking trails also vary in elevation and allow hikers to remain on flat surfaces or scale mountains. The natural beauty of the Tyron Creek State Natural Area and its unique hiking trails appeal to both community members and tourists. One of the more difficult but popular trails is the Tyron Creek Outer Loop Hike. This trail is 5.7 miles and scales a 630-foot elevation and is located in the Tyron Creek State Natural Area: one of the biggest parks in Portland. The Tyron Creek Outer Loop Hike may be difficult, but it is surrounded by many easier hiking options and is a wonderful area for hiking, biking, and family outings. Portland is normal very cold and rainy. People joke that it is only sunny in Portland a few days out of the year. While that joke is a hyperbole, it does highlight the high-level of cloud coverage and large amount of rain that is in Portland every year. The weather averages around forty degrees in Portland and tends to fall on the windy side most days as well. However, many Portland natives love this weather and find that it adds to the quiet and quirky charm of Portland. Many tourists disagree since people often want to experience clear sky’s and sun when on vacation. Yet, the dreary weather does not deter thousands of tourists from flocking to Portland each year to experience all that this wonderful city had to offer to its residents and visitors. The best time to visit Portland when the weather is warm will be during the summer, Most of Portland’s sunny days, warm weather, and lack of rain occur during the late spring and early summer months. This time of the year is a peak travel season for the city even though tourists come to visit the city all throughout the entire year. No matter the weather, people love Portland and come to visit
