Popular choices for concealed carry and defense.
All Kimber Classic Pistols have a ribbed Commander-style hammer to prevent clothing snags. An enlarged firing pin stop locks the tactical extractor in position for total reliability.
Compact™ and Pro Carry™ Series pistols have all the features of the Custom, along with a four-inch bushingless bull barrel design that ensures dependability while making them easier to carry and conceal. The unique Kimber bull barrel keeps maximum barrel weight forward, minimizing felt recoil and reducing muzzle lift for faster sight recovery. Keeping weight forward has the added benefit of holding the slide in battery longer, increasing accuracy. In the Kimber design, the slide travels further than on similar pistols. This gives the magazine follower spring more time to properly position the next round, ensuring positive feeding. The Kimber design also uses a single recoil spring.
Models differ in both frame material (steel, stainless steel or aluminum) and grip length. Compact models have an Officer's-length grip that is .400 inch shorter than full size models, making them easier to conceal. Pro Carry models have the same full length grip as full size pistols, permitting the four finger grip preferred by many shooters.
Compact and Pro Carry pistols have a 4-inch bull barrel. The barrel is fitted directly to the slide, eliminating the need for a bushing. Maximum weight is kept forward, increasing accuracy while reducing felt recoil.
Kimber uses the finest aluminum available as the basis for frames. Machined from solid blocks on the same machines and to the same precision tolerances demanded from steel, the 7075-T7 material yields frames that have been tested to 20,000 rounds without measurable wear. While reducing weight by six or seven ounces may not initially seem important, it makes a big difference if the pistol is carried every day.
New this year is the Pro Carry HD (Heavy Duty) .
Colt Firearms had a long and profitable relationship with John Browning, which included his machine guns as well as the world-famous Colt .45 automatic pistol. In 1899, John Browning had devised an auto-loading pistol using a locked-breech, tilting-barrel design and chambering a powerful .38 auto pistol cartridge. The army wasn’t interested in a .38 caliber pistol; instead, because of its effective stopping power, the next pistol was to be of the .45 caliber. Using Browning’s inventive genius, Colt, with the help of John Browning and the U.S. Army, produced the timeless .45 Auto Government Model of 1911.

Some believe that even in the most dire of situations, the act of torturing a prisoner to obtain information is not the most effective or efficient way to glean accurate information of a threat or terrorist group; experts have said that it is actually a very inefficient way to go about this and even that it is only on rare occasions that this results in useful, accurate information. However, there are also those who believe the exact opposite; that the only way to get information from a terrorist, or someone believed to be involved in terrorist activity, is to mentally break them down until they have suffered enough to surrender any information they might know or to the point where they just say whatever is necessary for the “interrogation” to stop, as in
Concealed carry; should we promote or discourage it? Many who are not supportive of the law, do not understand the pros that come from the ability to carry a concealed handgun. They overlook all the good that comes from the law, they seem to dwell on the very few cons, and do not wish to consider the great pros that can and often do come from the concealed carry law. Guns, though scary to some, provide those who carry with a sense of protection, as one must take into consideration the good that the law does for the people of America, and the power that is granted while carrying a gun.
Side arms, most useful only at close range, underwent important changes during the Civil War era. A particular standout was the La Mat revolver invented by Dr. Jean Alexander Francois Le Mat, a French born New Orleans doctor. The La Mat revolver was one of the most famous pistols of the civil war#. What makes this pistol so unique is that it has two barrels. The main cylinder held nine .40 caliber rounds fired though the upper barrel and revolved around the lower .63 caliber barrel that held a charge of buckshot#. As many as 3,000 of these pistols found
Wright Mills, an American sociologist coins the term sociological imagination as “the awareness of the relationship between personal experience and the wider society (Mills, 1959). This term is not necessarily a theory, rather an outlook of society and the ability to consider life beyond the typical day-to-day attributes. This results in a greater understanding of individual development in a larger social context contributing to a greater quality of mind distinguishing individuality and the correlation between societies at large (Sociological Imagination, Video file). Sociological imagination to me personally means the ability for one to imagine oneself on a bigger
The sociological textbook definition of the sociological imagination is “the ability to grasp the relationship between individual lives and the larger social forces that help to shape them.” However like most things, the sociological imagination is a bigger and more important concept than its definition. The sociological imagination allows one to have both a third-person and first-person view of the world. Being able to look through someone’s eyes while simultaneously knowing the forces that shape what they see and do, gives one a much greater understanding of someone’s life. That’s what the sociological imagination allows us to do, gain a better understanding. Whether through economic, religious, racial, or other social forces, the sociological
. “The illegal drug market in the United States is one of the most profitable in the world. As such, it attracts the most ruthless, sophisticated, and aggressive drug traffickers.” Throughout the years drug trafficking has been a major issue in America. These issues have impacted our economy, security, which promote new laws and policies throughout the U.S. and among our boarders. Drug Trafficking has created conflict with other countries such as Mexico. “…criminal groups operating from neighboring Mexico smuggle cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, amphetamine, and marijuana into the United States. These criminal groups have smuggled heroin and marijuana across the Southwest Border and distributed them throughout the United States since the 1970s.” (Policy Almanac).
While, the idea of a “sociological imagination” originally came from the influential American sociologist C. Wright Mills in his book “The Sociological Imagination,” there are in...

The Sociological Imagination speaks to the understanding of our own actions being a part of a larger historical and social picture. It encourages us to see what influences we have and what influences society has over our own individual lives, whether our decisions are determined by sociological factors and forces or are entirely in our own control. The sociological imagination enables us to see the relationship between history and biography. It helps us to understand the relationship between personal troubles and public issues, and as well as this, it addresses the three profound questions that C. Wright Mills asked. The three videos given, offer a range of successful and unsuccessful insight and explanations about the sociological

Concealed pistols have always been an issue that the public wants to know more and more about. Most people who were born and raised in the outdoors agree fully on the legality of a concealed weapon, whereas people who were born in big cities where they did not hunt, shoot guns, or have a firearm in their house do not. This is a very large and argued about cultural issue. I personally am all for concealed carry of a firearm. There are many reasons for this such as personal defense, sense of safety, and the protection of others around me. There are some questions that are raised about the carrying of a concealed weapon such as “what states can I travel in with my firearm?”, “what is the process of applying for a concealed carry permit?”, and “can I enter a weapon free zone to stop a shooter?”. Concealed carry has proven able to reduce crime and lower the casualty rate of a shooter who enters a public area with the intent to kill as many people as possible. Some people argue that concealed weapons are just carried by people who are looking for trouble and that you can obtain a pistol without a background check. This will also be explored and explained thoroughly.
