Polygamy seems to have always been an issue to people who practice other religions as well as the people within the law system. The term polygamy comes from the religious practice where one man has multiple wives at the same time. Just based off of the definition alone people have issues with those who practice this religion, which is understandable. However, do those people who judge, most of which are Christians, truly know much about the religion and its origins, or do they just automatically judge the fact that a man would marry multiple wives and the wives not seeing an issue with it? People are so quick to judge those who practice something that they do not agree with, which is very wrong. Giving a better understanding of this religious practice will help people form factual opinions that can actually back up their argument or agreement.
As known by most, there are those in other countries that practice this religion and it does not seem to be frowned upon at all. However, in the United States this religious practice is highly illegal, though there are those who still practice this religion. For example, there is a reality show on TLC entitled Sister Wives. This is a family, the Brown family, where the husband, Kody Brown, has four wives, Christine, Robyn, Meri and Janelle Brown. They first lived under one roof in Utah where they would not be perused after however, they had to move to after there were bigamy charges pressed on the family. Equality is meant to be used for religious view, every person on this earth, and everything created. Let people be who they are and be with who they love, whether it is just one or multiple people. It would not affect society and children negatively if people did not act negatively towards it. After this quick overview on the polygamist practice and viewing the different sides opposing and for the religion, it is hoped that there are better or more educated opinions on the subject. If people still think negatively towards the religion then that is fine, because the main purpose to this essay was to help better educate and form better justifications on the subject. Maybe this could be an eye-opener for most and possibly help people be more accepting of others who do not believe the same as they do.
