As political parties adapt to the norms or beliefs of the society the parties’ definition changes along with this adaptation. Firstly, the three aspects of a political party organization, party in government and party in the electorate. Party organization is the parties’ leaders and professionals who give their time, money and skills to their specific party. They are the ones who run the party at the national, state and local levels. Volunteers for the party are under this. The leaders of the party organization would be Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus and Democratic National Committee Chairman Donna Brazil. Like black voters, white southerners switched from Democrats to the Republican party. There was also a switch from party centered to a candidate-centered system, so instead of voting for a party you were now voting for the candidate from a party. There were also some negative aspects of this party system, like less partisanship. So for instance, with the 2016 election, Donald Trump is not strongly supporting his party’s policies, he’s going off of the party platforms policies. This party system also increased a divided government, because when a President from another party has to deal with the congress that is mainly from the opposing party. There is a divide and lots of things do not get done because of this. This was the system set in place by our founding father, this was a way so that not one person can be in power and impose tyranny onto the citizens. Which was something they were running away from when they had the American Revolution? Even though decentralization allows states a measure of sovereignty, the federal government checks and oversees the laws and activities that a state is doing. When it comes to political parties there is the system set in placed to ensure that no get too much power, so there are many different party leaders. Like the president, the DNC/RNC chairman and the many other people under them that make sure not one person has too much power. However, there has been a switch between centralized and decentralized power in the political party, because it gives the public more power. Before this, the legislative branch picks the individuals and the public had no say. The public also gets a say in who wins state level and national level
