My group’s position was that political parties help the government and helps to prevent gridlock. We wanted to show that even though our political parties don’t agree most of the time, we still get things done. In addition, having political parties allow the people to voice their opinions and organize the people. Also, we cannot be a democracy without political parties. A historical event that we used to back this up was Alexander Hamilton’s Financial Plan. The Federalists supported the plan, while the Republicans opposed the plan. The two parties had different opinions on the plan, but the plan was successful. Another example we used was the French Revolution.
