Political Correctness Infringes on our First Amendment Rights
Political correctness has become increasingly obvious in our daily lives. For example, the other day I attended the first meeting of the Frisbee Club here on the State University campus. During the meeting, we were discussing the fact we wanted shirts for this year, but we did not know what slogan to use.
While in the brainstorming process, the slogan “Suck my disk” came out. At the time, the slogan “suck my disk” seemed to be better than sliced bread to a bunch of college guys. But as we were wrapping up the meeting, one person came out and asked, “How appropriate do you think this slogan is if we want to have a Frisbee clinic with the high school? I think parents will be a little apprehensive.” It was also brought to our attention that Silk Screen, the local store that prints different images and slogans on clothing, has a policy that refuses politically incorrect slogans.
There seems to be a generally accepted concept in society that often makes us think three to four times before we speak. This concept ...
When individuals heavily rely on others due to their immense respect and veneration for other people’s accomplishments, this voluntary dependence causes them to be incapable of making their own judgements without being easily affected by the values of others. It is only upon an individual’s ability to overcome their own hardships will they suddenly begin to realize of their true potential and identity. In the novel The Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseini suggests that when individuals encounter a dilemma that significantly challenges their morality and trust for others, they become capable of overcoming these adversities and as a result, they are able to embrace their true individuality and identity. This is demonstrated through the character of Amir
The Constitution divides the government into three great powers known as the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches. Each of these three powers can keep watch on one another so no branch becomes all powerful and takes control over the government. If all three of these powers were united together as one, then the government would have tyranny on its hands. Separation of power has a very important role in the government as it does not allow the branches to abuse their power to annihilate the government system.
The founding fathers of the United States of America, envisioned a country where no one person would have too much control. This led to their writing of the Constitution. Within this document, the fathers laid out a government based on three branches: Legislative, Executive and Judicial. All three branches would have their own responsibilities and amount of power. Each branch would keep the others in check not allowing one to obtain more power than the other two. This system stuck and is still in use in our country today.
When war broke out, Holland chose to be neutral like in the past, but when it was bombed by Germany (Corrie Ten Boom Biography), it became part of the allies. Due to the bombing, the royal family fled to different countries. The Queen fled to England; the Crowned Princess fled to Canada. The Queen was a sense of security to the Dutch. Many changes came about (Carlson, 74). The Germans forced Jews to wear yellow stars and enforced the Bicycle Blockade; the Bicycle Blockade resulted in no bicycles or no tires on the bicycle. In addition to that, each attack on a German soldier resulted in shooting a minimum of ten, innocent civilians (Carlson, 75-76).

Today we have three separate branches of government that are supposed to keep each other from getting more powerful than the others through division of power and checks and balances as they interact with one another. They are the legislative, executive, and judicial branches. They each have their own roles to play, rules to follow, and are dependent on one another in order to keep the government running and keep chaos from happening. The Constitution calls for a system of separation of powers in which three branches of government can check and balance each other.

He uses Amir, the main character; to show the readers that in the beginning of the novel how a young boy, naïve to all that is around him can develops into a grown man because of his experiences such as loss of family members, happiness, and friendship something that all of us can experience as human beings and make us who we are.
If you were to pick up a packaged food in the grocery store, wouldn’t you want to have a label to know how much sugar was imported into the product? The FDA has put forth a proposal that would add that label, but some companies don’t think it would be necessary. I envisage that the homogenous human being’s governmental system should make rules about labeling foods with added sugar. The homogenous human being’s governmental system needs to add food labels because this would help consumers know how much sugar they are consuming into their consumptional bodies, and this would also make companies lower sugar to make more sales. As I said, this label would tell consumers how much extra sugar was put into the product they were wanting
Swartz and Allen both agree the government’s use of cell pone surveillance is questionable, however they disagree on where the line should be drawn. For example, Swartz’s view is objective when prosecutors make the argument that having access to such crucial data is imp...
Godwin’s Law is “The theory that as an online discussion progresses, it becomes inevitable that someone or something will eventually be compared to Adolf Hitler or the Nazis, regardless of the original topic.” (Oxford Dictionaries) This law has seem too have held true in regards to the ever going online debate over PC gaming verses console gaming. An online video game critic in 2011 made fun of PC gaming elitist by referring to them as “the glorious PC gaming master race” (Escapist. THE WITCHER (Zero Punctuation).) However, many PC gamers have taken the insult as a badge of honor. Tyler Wilde has written "Let’s Stop Calling Ourselves the “PC Master Race” in 2015, published on the PC GAMER magazine
Due to lack of recognition, men are treated as a superior to women in the workforce. “Throughout history…women were often subject to male authority ("Women’s Rights.").” Women very rarely get to high ranking positions in their field of work because of their gender, which results in women having a man as their superior. In this article the author points out that this has happened for years and still continues to this day but needs to be put to an end. In Doris Bohrer’s story of being a spy for World War 2
When Jem is taught by Atticus what true bravery is, Jem struggled to understand and realize that Mrs.Dubose was a great lady, even after everything she had said to Atticus. Mrs.Dubose fighting her morphine addiction also taught Jem that it’s important trying even if you know you can’t win, which translates directly into why Atticus defended Tom Robinson, even though Atticus knew they couldn’t win the trial. Understanding why Boo Radley never comes out of the house is something Jem struggles with for a very long time, showing that he and the other children don’t yet fully understand that people live different lives than their own, and that they must respect other’s ways of living. Since Jem’s and Scout’s lives are so closely intertwined Jem has a great amount of control and influence over Scout’s lifestyle. Jem often feels like he is superior to Scout and tell her things like “It’s time you started bein‘
The Holocaust is one of the greatest crimes ever committed against humanity. At first, the Nazi’s put pressure on the Jews by forcing them out of high statuses by boycotting their stores, and eventually by physically persecuting them. However, several Jews did emigrate, more so to North America. After the annexation of Austria and the invasion of Poland in 1939, Nazi control eventually spread to Holland, Norway, northern France, and Czechoslovakia; as the Nazi’s power spread, the more executions occurred. Those Jews, who wanted to flee, found it difficult, because several countries refused to take in massive amounts of Jews, including the United States. The Jews were without defenders, and when World War II was declared, they were trapped. Hitler then began to exterminate all European Jews.
Officers searching incident to arrest, seized Riley’s cell phone uncovering evidence of gang activity and subsequently ties to a gang related shooting. Additionally, Brima Wurie was arrested when officers observed him consummating an apparent drug deal. Officers seized Wurie’s cell phone incident to arrest at which time they observed several missed calls from the same number and wrote down the caller’s number. Subsequently this led to a drug dealers bonanza. Consequently, the main legal issue in the article is whether warrantless law enforcement searching of cell phones incident to arrest violates the Fourth Amendment rights (Harvard,
