Each year hundreds of police officers are sworn in under oath in numerous states and counties. These officers are giving the control to determine the fate of everyone’s life they encounter. Officers are spoken highly of and at the same time criticized for every situation they have to handle. Today’s officers are either loved or feared, because the action throughout history doesn’t show any good reasons not to fear an officer. Most people believe when dealing with officers they are dealing with the most respectful and honest people on earth, but in the end they are just people. Police officers just like any other are put in situations sometime by other, and sometimes from their own faulted actions they acquire them to make merciless decisions affecting those around them; in some instances for the better and the worst. Through the eyes of society any officer should have to ability to keep him/herself out of these types of situations, but in the life of any officer this is not always the case. No one knows the everyday life of these officers on duty and the circumstances they come against.
On Sept. 10 2010, and officer was black mailed to make him with hold evidence from allied agencies of illegal acts being performed at a local bar. “Nau said Ultreras was upset because Latino's had received two citations for minors consuming alcohol from the Kansas Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control. One of those citations was based on a report Nau had written, and the other stemmed from another officer's report Nau said Ultreras was complaining that the police department — and Nau — had unfairly targeted him, and that the citations were based on hearsay instead of evidence. An officer may choose their targets by race or gender, and by using his or her power could illegal accuse a certain person for a crime he/she did not commit. By having the power to choose their victims in some situations these officers on duty have an unlimited supply of possible personnel to victimize. Officers not only can use their power on people they do not know personally, but also those who pose a threat to their everyday life routine. Officers my gain some kind of social status by committing some corruption to a certain degree. These officers commonly seek power over money. By eliminating this competitors or obstacles in their way they have a better chance of climbing the wall and becoming their definition of successful.
