Cops run around these days like “Criminals with badges” and it seems if you don’t catch them in the act they don’t get charge with the crime so people are trying to defend themselves against police . Cops are becoming corrupted they are becoming more abusive to people letting dogs go on people who are already detained. My main reason for picking this topic is the incident with Mike Brown it had missouri turned upside down and majority of the officers are white in missouri. So you can imagine how big this incident was in missouri. So in conclusion the system need to change and they need to start putting cameras on police to see whats actuallly going down.
Even though, police brutality is a big problem, it is only proving the police wrong when it is clear they are trained to serve and protect with a lot of different protocols in the process of the whole situation. The police would only react to a perp violently and with force if they felt threatened and when this happens local news and internet makes it look as if police are the bad guys which in some situations they are, but others they aren 't they are just doing their job as officers to serve and protect. Three possible solutions to this problem would be firing the officer, giving them jail time, or even treating them as they treated the victim for reasons that did not require brutal force, but in other cases the pipe should be the one in
The media clearly shows that people who are not on the favorite side of the law will most likely be brutalized again. People of all color, age, and ethnicity are being brutalized by the police. There may be terrorizing citizens that’re causing a great deal of harm to others, but there’s other ways where you can take actions to control the situation. Also, just because the citizens had broken the law, doesn’t mean that they can be denied they’re basic human rights. They’re citizens no matter what, and as a police officer, their basic job is to protect them, no matter what.
Street gangs and prison gangs are a true problem and burden that haunts not only the US but also the World. Gang violence is triggered by itself because it is inevitable to take place due to the gangs’ very small tolerance for disrespect. Many efforts have been put forward to stop the monstrosities cause by the unrestrained men and women who are intimidating everyone who they surround. Gang violence affects the whole United States and not just a certain group. Maybe someday there will be a cure to the killings and violence cause but unfortunately we do not have the solution.
Although police officers sometimes accidentally take lives, more lives are saved than those mistakenly taken. If officers did not apply some force when opposed, people would have no reason to listen and obey the laws they enforce. Police would gain no respect from civilians, and many officers would end up dead. In many cases, such as Tyron Lewis in 1996 and Michael Brown in 2014, minorities believe that police are targeting certain races when they use a gun as a means to protect themselves. While many people without any law enforcement training think that an officer is only supposed to injure the suspect to stop them, officers are actually trained to use lethal force to stop a threat (Mitchell).
Police Brutality has been a widely ignored issue since the United States of America was created. Two major elements that play into police brutality is racial discrimination and the belligerent desire to misuse their power. The effects from this issue involves the loss of trust and the increase of fear towards the police force who have disregarded their obligation as protectors. Demilitarization of the police force should be a priority; the amount of weaponry supplied to them encourages the use violence as a solution to stressful situations where they do not know how to react. Periodical psychological testing could prevent mentally ill, racist or power hungry people from joining the police force and endangering the lives of the innocent in
Police officials are abusing their power and authority through three types of misconduct known as malfeasance, misfeasance, and nonfeasance and these types are being overlooked by management personnel who rarely intervene even though they know what is happening. Misconduct is wrong because it violates rights and cause people to be wrongly accused of crimes or be found not guilty and set free when they are still an endangerment to other people. The public needs to be educating on what is happening in the police system in hopes that someone will speak out to protect citizens from being violated by police officers. The article Police Integrity: Rankings of Scenarios on the Klockars Scale by “Management Cops,” conveys that the different scenarios for each definition and the nature of police work make this corruption difficult to specifically define (Vito 153). Since it so challenging to correctly define, the three broad categories of malfeasance, misfeasance, and nonfeasance ... ... middle of paper ... ...e punishments.
Breaking one of these laws is a very serious offense and will be investigated by a district attorney. Unfortunately, even with the laws covering police brutality, many accusations made by civilians about unnecessary use of force are not investigated. Researches think that police brutality happens because police are authorized to use whatever force when necessary, and often times it is very hard to prove that police brutality has taken place. Officers now are starting to constantly record all interaction that may take place while they are on duty, so that late the reordered conversations may be looked at in the case of an investigation. Sociologically, cops commit brutality crimes because of the social status of the victim.
“Some of the most important hazards police face are assaults, vehicle crashes, being struck by vehicles, stress, overexertion, and falls” (LaTourrette). Traffic stops make up a majority of the police deaths, but most of those deaths do not have to do with responding to the scene of a crime or the pursuit of a criminal suspect. Most would believe police have the most dangerous jobs in the world, yet many do not die in the line of duty. Police shows like Cops give the American population a false sense of danger when it comes day to day work of an officer. They only show the action to keep viewers interested because if you watching the normal stopping of a citizen to get a speeding ticket or to tell them a lights out the show would not be on anymore.
They are involved in very dangerous and stressful occupations that can involve violent situations that must be stopped and controlled by any means. In many confrontations with people, police may find it necessary to use excessive force to take control of a certain situation. Sometimes this makes an officer fight with a suspect who resists being arrested. Not all cops in communities are great cops. At least once a year, the news covers a story about a person being beat by an officer.
