Pol Pot’s attempt at Agrarian Leadership

In the late ½ of the 20th century, Pol Pot took the vision of another communist leader, Mao Zedong and his “Great Leap Forward” and made it his own. Instead of moving away from agriculture, Pol Pot moved closer toward it. Creating an “agrarian society”; but was his vision fulfilled?
What is an agrarian society? An agrarian society is a society in which agriculture is the major component in its economy. Many things are important in an agrarian society other than agriculture. Pol Pot, although centering his economy around agriculture, did not fulfill everything required to create a successful agrarian society.
During the medieval period, England was a mainly agrarian society. This led to its eventual growth into the England we know today as one of the major world superpowers. They did this by not only focusing on agriculture but also by focusing on the arts and sciences; because without these the world would look starkly different. Had Pol Pot been less maniacal, his dream might have been successful but his ignorance lead to the death of two million innocent lives
