Tigers being poached or killed is decreasing their populations dramatically.This species may not be here for long. Some tigers live in reserves to help their populations increase.Tigers are very active and like bathing. Tigers are a beautiful animals, yet their habitats are becoming isolated; thus, there will be no more tigers. Suprisingly, the biggest member in the cat family is the tiger(“Basic”para.1).The defenders.org states, “They sport long, thick reddish coats with white bellies and white and black tails. There heads, bodies, tails, and limbs have narrow black, brown, or gray stripes.” (“Basic”para.1). The Britannica Encyclopedia states, “The Bengal, Indo-Chinese, and Sumatran tigers are bright reddish tan, beautifully marked with dark, almost black, vertical stripes. The under parts, the inner sides of the limbs, the cheeks, and the large spot over each eye are whitish. The rare Siberian tiger has longer, softer, and paler fur. White tigers, not all of them true albinos, have occurred from time to time, almost all of them in India. Black tigers have been reported less frequently from the dense forest of Myanmar(Buram), Bangladesh, and eastern India.”(Tiger”Britannica para.2). Male tigers are the biggest subspecies, can sometimes weigh 660 pounds, and females, (smaller subspecies), weigh in the range of 310 pounds. Females are lighter than males (“Tiger”World para.4). The defenders.org states, “There were once nine subspecies of tigers: Bengal, Siberian, Indo-Chinese, South Chinese, Sumatran, Malyan, Caspian, Juvan, and Bail, Of these, the last three are extinct, one is extinct in the wild, and the rest are endangered.” (“Basic”para.1).
