Social Media is an amazing tool. Humans use Social Media to share their thoughts, photos, and interact with other people. To continue, a favorite form of social media is Pinterest. Pinterest is an online interface where users create and save hyperlinked images known as pins. Sectors called boards store these pins. Another great aspect of Pinterest is that it can be accessed from any internet based device like laptops and cell phones. Pinterest is wonderful because it is easy to find pins on multiple subject areas; however, it is not the most optimum method to meet other people.

To begin with, Pinterest was not designed for users to meet other users. Pinterest does allow users to see pins from other users, but the original pinner is often irrelevant for users. No individual goes on Pinterest and desires to meet someone based on DIY placeholder made up of paper straws. They just want to see the craft. However, Pinterest has recently introduced chat option to talk to other users, but this would not be a favorable feature. As a pinner, answering a message from a random pinner would not occur. Moreover, chatting on Pinterest with a close friend, although short-lived, would be an interesting endeavor. Ultimately, Pinterest is a great way to organize ideas, but not the best in meeting other people.

Meeting others in person allows for a stronger bond. The stronger the bond between to people is the longer the relationship will last. With online relationships, a common fear is whether the person on the other side is who they say they are. This is called catfishing. With social dating sites like eharmony.com, many people are able to meet and have wonderful relationships; however, catfishing is still a harsh reality that must not be ignored on these sites.
