What is Cheerleading?

Physics is involved with more things than we could imagine it life. Physics affects us when we drive, run, take a fall and etc. Physics is involved with a numerous amount of sports, one including cheerleading. Physics can be applied to cheerleading in multiple ways including Gravity, Newton’s Law, Momentum, Torque, Potential & Kinetic energy and etc. In this paper it will discuss why certain cheerleading moves and positions relate to physics.
When people think of cheerleading they assume that cheerleaders only yell and clamp, which causes people to make the assumption that cheerleading, is not a sport. Cheerleading consist of jumps, stunts, and tumbling which takes a lot of practice. Most people are ignorant to cheerleading so they do not fully understand how much science and movement is really in cheerleading

Physics Involved with Cheerleading

Insert topic sentence. Insert sentences. Gravity is used in every aspect of cheerleading, from jumps, to stunts, and tumbling. Gravity can be manipulated in an athlete’s jump because one must have the force, momentum, and power in order to perform a specific jump then land on two feet when gravity pulls them back together. Tumbling is another example of how gravity is used to execute specific cheerleading. Whether you …show more content…

When an athlete begins there complex tumbling pass their feet leave the ground and they begin to lose their momentum. Once the cheerleader is finished with his/her pass they will begin to gain their speed back. Angular momentum helps give the athlete the right about of speed to finish their pass. When one is dealing with momentum that means mass and velocity has to play in the equation. In order to figure out the momentum in that tumbling one must figure out the mass (weight of cheerleader) and velocity (how fast the cheerleader is
