The longer I work in healthcare, the more it stands out to me as an especially compelling and rewarding field. I have enjoyed great personal and professional development as a result of my immersion in the modern medical system. As a rehabilitation technician for Loyola University Medical Center, the work I do providing patient care fills me with satisfaction and purpose. This experience has inspired me to dedicate my life to a career in medicine. I am committed to serving all people and contributing to the medical community as a practitioner, advocate, and leader. It is a deep desire of mine to fulfill this purpose by becoming a physician assistant.
The purpose and satisfaction I get from providing patient care is the essence of my motivation to serve others as a physician assistant. The difficulties of patient care have tested my character and resolve, but I live for the times when I make a positive impact on a patient’s life. My education and work experience is focused in health science, which stems from a fascination with the human body. This strong interest motivated me to switch from an engineering curriculum to kinesiology in order to learn more about biology and anatomy. When we discussed topics such as glycolysis and muscle contraction in my kinesiology courses, the complexity of the subjects captivated me like nothing else. Over time, I developed effective study techniques to learn the often-challenging material, leading to a 4.0 GPA in my post-graduate prerequisite coursework. I have truly enjoyed the unique challenge of studying science and medicine. Most of all, I relish the fact that there will always be something new to learn. I am eager to continue studying medicine as a physician assistant
