My IPPE community rotation at Safeway will enable me to challenge myself to various drugs in the pharmacy and improve on my customer service. After learning more about the Safeway, I have learned that this is a high volume pharmacy. This will give me many opportunities to practice on counseling, dispensing medications, and to serve the community. In the long term, I want to be a clinical pharmacist, specialize in diabetes management. Diabetes is a chronic illness that requires many interventions to see positive outcomes. This includes educating patients about exercising, eating healthy and the importance of being in compliance with their medications. In addition to this, my profession will allow me to work with vulnerable populations because diabetes is commonly seen in these populations. In conclusion, becoming a clinical pharmacist, specialized in diabetes, will allow me to understand how medications work, be confident in counseling my patients about their medications and be able to educate them on behaviors they can take in order to reach positive health
