Fossil fuels have begun to show signs of scarcity. There are becoming more expensive and difficult to retrieve (Dixon, 2013). Many have redirected their focus to renewables and other more environmentally sound alternatives. Some alternatives can even work within our current infrastructure. Further, many alternatives have proven to provide environmental mitigation such as carbon sequestration.

Ring structures incorporate two additional functional groups: the hemiacetal and acetal. A major part of the carbon cycle occurs as carbon dioxide is converted to carbohydrates through photosynthesis. Carbohydrates are utilized by animals and humans in metabolism to produce energy and other compounds. Carbohydrates are initially synthesized in plants form a complex series of reactions involving photosynthesis. They store energy in the form of starch or glycogen in animals and humans.
It will also look at the potential cost of biofuels on agriculture, food security and future economic development. Later on, the paper will consider the feasibility of introducing fossil fuels to developing countries arguing that the risks by far outweigh the potential benefit. Biofuels are ‘’liquid or gaseous fuels for the transport sector that are predominantly produced from biomass.’’ (Demirbas, 2008). At the heart of that definition is the logic of creating fuel for use in motorised vehicles which is derived from organic matter (mostly sugarcane in Brazil, corn in USA, Jatropha plant seeds in India and many others). Creating fuel from such sources solves one of the predominant problems that the world will face very soon, fossil fuel depletion.

Biomass is being used in new and advanced ways to produce energy. This has inspired Canada and other areas around the world to improve the biomass energy industry. Today we rely so heavily on fossil fuels. Eventually those sources will run out and we will need to find an alternative. All though biomass has some challenges, it is still an important renewable resource for America to transition to a clean energy future.
Biomass Abstract: The current use of energy in the United States, especially California, is foreshadowing catastrophe in our environment. Due to high demand of fossil fuels, the air is filled with more pollution every day. In addition to, it can increase the chances of having global warming. Since fossil fuels are generated from raw materials which are easy and cheap users are becoming extremely dependent on them. The main problem with fossil energy is that the supply of fossil fuels is not continuous.
