Dogs and cats reach their senior years much sooner than people do. The exact age at which seniorhood begins for a dog or cat depends on breed and size, but as a general rule, dogs enters old age between age six and seven and cats when they are about seven years old.
Dogs and cats are living longer lives, and as pets age, their needs for health care change, as well. For this reason, geriatric veterinary care is a growing trend in the world of veterinary medicine.

Animal-assisted therapy tend to be focused on individuals either children or elderly for them to be able to connect with the animal thus feeling comfortable talking with the therapist. In one way or another, I have been taking care of animals my entire life. Growing up, I was completely dedicated to animals, caring for what could be considered a mini zoo.
