Voting is arguably the most important fundamental process given to the people of the United States. Politics affects every one of us and by voting our voice and opinion can be heard. It’s the first election I’ve been eligible to vote in. With election of the 45th president fast approaching, lots of young people are awaiting the chance to exercise their right to vote for the very first time. Every year, like me, many will turn eighteen and about to get started on the path of independence. Many of us will go on to continue our education as we focus on potential careers, and others will try to get a jump­start on life as part of the labor force. Mr. Abraham Lincoln, or “Honest Abe”, earned this nickname before his first inauguration. It could have been from when he was a trusted store clerk or during his law career when many had seen his lack of tolerance for lying in the courtroom. There are many reasons you should be truthful, if for nothing more than it will come to light someday whether you want to admit or not I think we can all learn a thing or two from President Clinton’s reluctance to admit to a certain mistake. Looking back, I think that Franklin D. Roosevelt may have been one of the most dedicated politicians of all time even with a disease that crippled him. Despite his scandals and shortcomings, he is known for his ability to command a crowd. In his 1961 inaugural address, he kept the audience captivated, saying, “My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.” A kind and friendly disposition goes a long way for even the toughest of critics. Roosevelt died bearing the weight of the country and before he could enact his best gift, The Second Bill of Rights. I also think that my favorite President was George Washington. Bernie Sanders has the highest approval rating in the Senate. His 83% approval tells us exactly what Vermonters think of Bernie and that percentage most include quite a few Republican supporters.(2) If you also look at the unfavorable rating of Congress, it is no less than outstanding. He seems really happy when businesses become successful. He doesn’t feel bitterness toward rich people or to want to put any hurdles in the way of those who want to get rich. But he feels the opportunity to get rich has to be available to everyone. I believe that Sanders is the best hope to save this country from corruption, corporate welfare and a decreasing middle class that may result in an economic collapse. I like him because he says it like it is. Senator Bernie Sanders’s message of free tuition, universal health care, and billions of tax dollars spent to create publicly funded jobs created an overwhelming amount of youth voters by simply paying some attention to their particular worries. I think he has a common sense plan for every important issue. I won 't apologize to Vermont if we take him away, he 's a breath of fresh air (although a bit of a socialist) not the kind of deodorizer other politicians spray around to take away their
