Dear citizens of America, today I am going to address the issue concerning the migration of Syrian Refugees. I am Emilia Kelley, a student of Saline Middle School. I have recently been learning about the Syrian Refugee crisis in school and wanted to address this issue with you. I believe that if we support the “U.S Committee for Refugees and Immigrants”, an organization that helps refugees and immigrants with many things, such as work authorization, green card renewals, temporary protected status, and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), the number of syrians receiving a Green Card/work visa will rise. Many Syrians are currently living in America illegally because they cannot obtain a Green Card. This is a major issue because many small misshapps like a speeding ticket can get someone, and their family deported. Many Syrian families lose their homes because they can't get access to a Green Card. According to the USCIS, around 4176 Syrians have applied for asylum in the United States since the start of the Syrian war in 2011, since then, only 1565 applications have been approved. This issue can affect more than just working illegally, if a student gets certain …show more content…
By helping refugees apply for a Green card or work authorization, many more syrians will be able to work and live in America. There are so many people we can help and support their education. We all have so many opportunities that we take for granted, such as scholarships, that refugees don't get or cannot accept. By supporting the U.S Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, we are helping syrians get a work visa, we have more creative minds to help support our work force and help America build a stronger economy. When we turn away Syrians, we and turning away people that could possibly be starting new businesses or working in

The United States fails to protect its borders, while Australia sacrifices human rights in order to do so. Traditionally, first-world countries and their citizens assist those in less developed countries. Many of the island nations in the south pacific suffer from poverty and frequent natural disasters. Most would agree that, as the most developed country in the region, it is Australia’s responsibility to advocate for human rights and contribute to humanitarian efforts for the island nations. To its credit, Australia normally satisfies this role. However, when asylum-seekers come by boat, Australia draws a forceful line. The United States is also tasked with protecting its borders, but takes a more appropriate approach. In 2012, the PEW research
In 2005 the Migration Amendment Act was introduced which relates to the notion that children must only be put in detention centres as a matter of last resort to ensure the safety of children as there had been many concerns from the Members of parliament. This new policy had given the opportunity for many children and their families to be released into community detention centres whereby there is higher security to ensure their protection. However, in Australia there had still been a substantial amount of children that had still been held in detention centres and often for lengthy periods. Although the Australian Government had attempted to comply with the new policy by gradually allowing children and their families to be released into the community
“If the protecting of our borders requires the incarceration of babies, the sexual abuse of children, the rape of women and the murder of men, then we are of all nations the most depraved.” This emotive statement from a man of the church, Father Rod Bower, touches a nerve with many of Australians. It is an acid test on our national consciousness. The shock of disturbed beliefs pushes us to reassess the foundation of our values.
Syrian refugees who are in desperate need of emotional, physical, mental support will feel disrespected and betrayed from not only their own country but America as well, which will lead to irrational actions. Maybe even joining terrorist groups to get back at America. In the past year there has only been four ISIS attacks in the United States. Most would agree the number would increase if Refugees are allowed into the States. On the other hand, some agree the numbers will increase if the refugees aren’t allowed in America, refugees will build hatred and eventually want to put that pain on America for denying them to enter the States. Although the United States has the option to deny Syrian refugees, the States has already increased the screening process for those incoming. Security has expanded and is being trained to their top performance if a security guard feel as though a refugee is sketchy they have to right to deny the incoming
Today, there are over 65 million refugees in the world. That means that one in every 113 people in the world is a refugee. To many, this number may seem extremely alarming. Many refugees struggle to find a place to resettle. America, along with other developed countries, has often been considered dreamland for these displaced people, making many wanting to get out of their war-torn houses and camps. Refugees immigrating to America have been displaced from their original homes, face frustrating immigration policies, and have difficulties starting a new life in a new land.
Hundreds of people have marched in Brisbane to show their support for an innocent Iranian student who was sent to an immigration detention centre after spending two years living in the community. Mojgan Shamsalipoor had just been months away from completing high school, but her application for a visa to live in Australia had been rejected. Ms Shamsalipoor will now accept her year 12 certificate behind bars of Darwin’s Wickham immigration detention centre, where here on her life will never be the same again. What is life really like inside a closed detention centre? Well imagine a life torment with anxiety and depression or being surrounded by people with their lips sewn together on hunger strikes. There are people willing to die due to the immense torture inside what can only be described as hell. These are the devastating reality described by those who are forced by the Australian Government to live in.
a. The National Human Trafficking Resource Center has made an effort between the Departments of State, Justice and Homeland Security created the Human Smuggling and Trafficking center to centralize information.
To be elected into a power of importance here in America and be trusted to make good decisions here in the land of the free, how can they say no to having immigrants here? Are the immigrants the ones shooting up schools? Are the immigrants the ones shooting up cops? No they are not it is the born and pure breed Americans that are tearing this country apart. With all that is wrong with our country i can stand tall and say the majority of the immigrants are not doing anything wrong. I have watched several videos now on what they are having to go though simply because they wanted a better life. They are working very hard to stay in this country and make a difference here. To then pick them up and cuff them like some criminal because they weren
Trafficking women and children for both sexual exploitation and labor is the fastest growing sex trade all around the world. The global sex trade is a multi-billion dollar business industry in which women’s bodies become the targets in order for the trade to run successfully. Although sex trafficking is a human rights violation, criminals are still selling women and girls as victims worldwide. The crime occurs when a trafficker uses acts of force, fraud, or other means of coercion to take control over another individual. This is for the purpose of forcing them to engage in commercial sex acts or other labor services. The overall percentage of women and girls being oppressed among trafficking is extremely incredible. “Women and girls make up
To look for refuge in the United States a person must have a well-founded fear of mistreatment based on their race, ethnicity, religion, or political social affiliations. Refugees of various backgrounds had everything ripped away from them. It is the duty of the United States to put on an armor and protect these human beings, welcoming them to a different more comforting life. Many Americans, attract the refugee population by doing as much as they can, to achieve the goal of being as helpful as can be. Although others are concerned, on how much is too much, when it comes to helping the refugees. There must be an exception on the right amount of effort, to
“They do what?? Then stuff what into where??? OH HELL NO… I AM OUT!!!”. Eating a turkey is like eating your pet dog or cat. We turkey's help humans, we are raised for food produce 130 times as much excrement as the entire human population. They’re turkeys from all around being eaten, and we turkeys are no “bird brains”.
In our generation we are full of progress, technologically and socially. Razor phones are now Iphones, desk computers are now macs, gas hogs are now electric cars, and mixed race people are normal. Now with that last statement, that doesnt mean that racism is gone. Unfortunately we still deal with racist issues today, although we have come a long long way in the last 50 years. The older generation of hard set minds are dwindling down and a new open minded generation is taking over one by one. With cases like fergisun and Eric Garner going on right now, it has our country in chaos. This issue has people turning on each other and buildings getting burned down in protest, and our question is how do we end racism in the US for good? Many white people believe that racism has basically vanished, a lot of african
Currently, the largest cause of refugees is the Syrian civil war, which has displaced over 2.1 million people. As a country of relative wealth, the United States should be able to provide refuge for many refugees, as well as provide monetary support to the refugees that they are not able to receive. Countries surrounding Syria, such as Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and Iraq have taken in the vast majority of Syrian refugees. In some countries, such as Lebanon, Syrian refugees make up over a quarter of the population. This causes extreme economic strain on a country, and can greatly increase the amount of poverty that is seen there.
Imagine you are a fourteen year old girl. You’ve just gotten out of school and now you’re walking home to a house you know is filled with men you don’t know. They pay your parents to use you for anything they want to. You’re fourteen, yet you’re a prostitute. This may seem like something only seen in the movies, or something you’d see in third world countries, but sexual slavery hits closer to home than you might think.
