Imagine a happy circle of three best friends having a sleep over. There is an excited chatter as the friends prepare the sleeping bags in the living room. A teenager talks about her day at school, and another discusses the upcoming prom dance party. However, there is an empty place where the third sleeping bag should be. Angelica, the twelve-year-old who just met a guy at a store is not yet home, she has not arrived for the sleep over. Angelica is never late for sleepovers. Her parents nor her friends have no idea Angelica, has just been pull into the human trafficking business. It will be her last time she has freedom. Human trafficking is everywhere, a victim could be the person sitting next to us, or ourselves, this is the reason why we need to heighten awareness, know the key indicators and act against it.
What is human trafficking? according to Homeland security, “Human trafficking is a modern-day form of slavery involving the illegal trade of people for exploitation or commercial gain.” Human trafficking is considered a hidden crime since not all victims come forward, or don’t even …show more content…

The answer is conducted in several points of view, the main and common respond would be to be active, have awareness of your surroundings, and if you know about someone being a victim of trafficking, report it. The U.S. Department of State, in an article called “20 Ways You Can Help Fight Human Trafficking” gives some tips of how to help fight against human trafficking and how to get involve in the community declaring, “Learn the red flags and ask follow up questions, report tips to National Human Trafficking Resource Center, Be a conscientious consumer, discover your Slavery Footprint … and take steps to investigate and eliminate slavery and human trafficking in their supply chains and to publish the information for consumer awareness, … join anti-slavery organizations” are just a few of many ways to help end human
