“Open your gifts at the same time,” mom exclaimed in excitement on Christmas 2014. Dad and I opened our gifts, and I could not believe what I had in my hands. I was holding a NASCAR ride along experience gift card in my hands. Dad looked at me and said, “We are going racing!” My dad was holding a NASCAR ride along experience gift card in his hands too. I scheduled our shotgun rides after I hugged my mom tightly. I woke up at approximately 3:30am on August 7, 2015, to get ready for our trip to Dover International Speedway. My parents and I left our house at about 7:30 am to start our journey to Dover. It has been about ten years since I went on a long road trip, so it was fun driving with my parents for a little over three hours to Dover. Climbing into the race car is something I will always remember; it was one of the best days of my life. When I sat inside the car, I saw the driver was in the car ready to go. The driver shook my hand and said hi to me. I said hi to him, and then he asked me if this was my first time. I replied,” Yeah; this is my first time.” The driver joked,” yeah; this is my first time too. They just put me in the car.” I smiled and laughed while the woman who helped me get in the car was strapping me in. The lady who was strapping the belts on me laughed and said,” Oh, don’t listen to him.” After she got me strapped in, the driver turned on the car, and the engine came to life. He asked me if I was ready, I said yes, and then we flew off pit road. Only a true race fan would understand how amazing it felt to be in the race car. There were so many emotions going through my head as I could feel the race car get faster, and I listed to the engine screaming. I thought I might be a little nervous about going approximately 150 mph around the track, but I loved the speed. When the driver got up to speed, I could feel the race car, and my body want to move to the Both of us were thinking,” How does a driver focus with forty-two other cars around them for more than three laps?” I have always respected race car drivers. After experiencing my ride along, I respect race car drivers even more. A week later, my dad texted my mom and I when he was at work and said, “Let’s go back to Dover.” Yep, my dad and I are still talking it, and I think we will be talking about it for a long time. When I was sitting inside the race car, it felt like I was supposed to be there. It did not feel weird being in the race car, it felt right. I want my dad and I to experience a ride along again someday soon. My dad and I will remember our memorable, incredible shotgun rides
