Have you ever wanted to own a sky scraping mansion that leaves people breathless upon arrival? Americans are always encouraged to be successful in life, and find a job that will meet all of their potential needs in life. Living the American dream would consist of finding the job of a life time in order to find a perfect home to reside in. A perfect home would be one in which the family can live comfortably in and appreciate coming home to after a long day at work. The American dream is defined as home ownership, however today this is harder due to high loans and interest rates. The “American Dream” is something we constantly hear about throughout all of elementary school, owning a big beautiful home with a white picket fence to keep the bad guys out. Everyone seems to have heard about the “American Dream” yet nobody really seems to actually know what this dream consists of. The dream may just be a false reality, or it could be something so close to the edge of our fingertips that we just need to grasp on to it. The dream we hear about in school as a child is not just a made up story, all Americans need to do to sustain the dream is work hard for it. Furthermore, today in 2014 the “American Dream” is to own a beautiful home, where the family is comfortable and feels safe. However, it is extremely hard for many families to accomplish this goal today. For example, according to Frank Newport “It is apparent that the hope of being able to buy a house is relatively strong even in the minds of those with below-average incomes, given that between 35% and 40% of Americans making less than $50,000 a year say that while they currently don't own a home, they plan on buying one in the future.
