It is hard to think of a time when cell phones did not exist. At what cost are we willing to risk our lives for our handheld devices. Each person must decide if they will control their addiction for technology for the safety of themselves and others. Lawmakers will discover it difficult to control texting while driving and will need to promote increased education to the public to reduce accidents and tragedies.
I would like to see a plan on how the government is choosing to forgo enforcing laws when it comes to texting and driving. A perfect world would consist of no accidents relating to texting and driving and where phones would be only used for emergences. Unfortunately, “…in a nation where the number of cell phones (300 million) now outstrips even the number of vehicles (254 million), that's not going to happen.” ("Yes, Cellphones Can Be Dangerous” 1). There is new technology everywhere we look. In today’s times, living in a world where we find Bluetooth and voice audio in cars, so that people can talk hands free.
