I find myself in the window seat, two months later, peering out and seeing the rich green land continue to disappear. I have reached the end of this incredible opportunity of interning abroad. I am an upcoming senior majoring in Psychology that recently transferred to Cal just last year. My transition from a community college to a prestigious university has been difficult, but worth it. The year has flown by and as summer quickly approached I found myself looking at the many study abroad programs that Cal offered. My friends and family highly recommended that I go out and see the world. I had never interned before and I desperately needed something eye catching to put on my resume, so I thought why not work and play. This was all I needed to know and I started the application that same day. I knew that I wouldn’t have a chance like this again, so this was the perfect time to push myself and commit to an application. Although many options were available, my choice of location was fairly easy. There was London, Spain, Canada and others, but as soon as my eyes saw Ireland, I knew. I was born with a green heart that glorified nature. I have always appreciated plants/animals and I yearned to been in an environment that fulfilled my joys of being surrounded by life. It was not a surprise that I chose Ireland with its lush landscape and rainy weather. This was where I wanted to spend two months of my summer. The day I received the email stating that I was accepted into the program was magical.
