Daily, Americans make the switch to solar energy and cut dependency from local utilities. The argument from those that oppose solar technology is that if solar energy replaces fossil fuel usage this will eliminate thousands of jobs in oil based states like Texas, where in some cities like Odessa, most of the labor force is driven by the oil market. However, if renewable energy tech is implemented this will create thousands of new job in manufacturing, installation and maintenance. A benefit of jobs that have renewable energy unlike oil it will not be the only resource being used so the price of oil will not influence the work force. Harvesting the suns energy is one of the biggest gold mines waiting to be found. While the research concludes many benefits one of the most obvious is that solar power is 100% natural, there are no emissions released when using solar panels. Solar panels are Mother Nature approved. This resource unlike fossil fuels is a renewable resource. A benefit of the sun is the guarantee of it rising every day. Therefore, the reliability of producing heat every day is definitive. The sun is at its highest temperature peak around midafternoon which is great as this tends to be the time most people use energy. Unfortunately one of the biggest cons that face solar power is the argument that the shine does not shine in all places as much as others such as Alaska. Using Solar panels does not produce any carbon dioxide unlike fossil fuels that “produces huge volumes of carbon dioxide, which is a gas that influences the global climate” (“Solar Power Vs. Fossil Fuels”). Having the choice to get power in a new way that saves the environment, home owners should not have to think twice about trying solar. In fact if home owners collect some amount of watts per hour on Monday, that will not reduce the amount of solar energy a home owner can collect on Wednesday or any other day that week. They can always keep collecting the power. No matter what people may argue about how much coal, natural gas and petroleum remains buried in the Earth, those fossil fuels will run out far earlier than the life of the sun ("Solar Power Vs. Home owners should invest in solar energy because solar systems have very dependable technology with little maintenance, they offer financial savings and they are better for the environment.
Our country is currently suffering energy-wise, we have been powering with inefficient sources for years now and the harm that it is doing to the country has started to become apparent. Renewable energy is the only way to stop, or at the very least set back the inevitable downfall of our ecosystem. I think that the next big breakthrough for renewable energy is implementing off-grid communities that use renewable sources as their main sources of power, so that we can potentially escape the energy rut that we got ourselves stuck in.

Coal gives us twenty one percent of our energy while the other seventeen percent comes from other energy sources. Those other resources include nuclear, wind, and mostly solar. The sun has been a major aspect of life since the beginning of time. People used many other forms of energy before electricity was discovered. There has been a debate over energy resources for years. Many people are worried about what current energy resources may be doing to the environment. Oil spills and nuclear power plant mishaps have only been a few accidents that have had a big impact on the environment and the people who inhabit it. There are plenty of energy sources that do not harm the environment and are still able to get the job done. Solar energy is one energy alternative that will insure the betterment of the country and, at the same time, protect the natural environment.
Although solar seems to be excluded from most of the disadvantages listed above tied to using renewable energy sources, it still has two big main disadvantages. The first being that, it is impossible to shut off. The fact that there is no way to shut these solar panels off makes them prone to catch fire. This is harmful to the place they are located. It is especially bad when people put them on their roofs which can cause house fires. Another big issue with solar is that it takes a lot of room for the amount of energy that it produces. According to the U.S. Energy Information Association to produce 1 MW of solar energy, assuming that your panels are located in price sunny locations, it takes 7.4 acres of solar panels. The future of the United States solar energy industry will be shaped not only by economic growth, but also by the rate of declining oil resources and the global realization of the consequences of human induced climate change. Political responses to this realization in the United States include; new policies, legislature, and tax incentives to both businesses and private households to promote growth and investment in the solar power industry.
Solar is an even better alternative to other forms of renewable energy. In the book Renewable: The World Changing Power of Alternative Energy, Jeremy Shere says that “enough sunlight falls on Earth every hour to meet the world’s energy demands for an entire year” (89). There is no other form of energy in as much abundance as the sun provides. Solar energy is even more reliable and more available than another popular renewable energy source, wind energy. Wind energy is much more expensive than solar energy, and requires much more maintenance than solar energy according to an article in Go Green in Your Home.
Energy is the basic necessity of daily life. Nowadays, dependence on fossil fuels for energy needs becoming lower in numerous countries due to the potential of renewable energy to supply sustainable energy to the huge populations in many developing countries who are short of clean and continues energy. Generally, renewable energy can be defined as energy that is derived from natural resources which are constantly replenished and theoretically inexhaustible. Fossil fuels on the other hand can be described as energy that cannot be renewed and will eventually diminish. Thus, in many developing countries renewable energy is the alternative energy to replace non-renewable energy or commonly known as fossil fuels. In addition, according to Sorensen (2004), there is a greater demand for renewable energy sources nowadays due to the uncertainty of fuel price rise in living expenses. Commonly, there are many types of renewable energy available in our world such as wind power, biomass energy, solar energy, hydroelectric power and geothermal energy. However, the main three example of renewable energy are hydroelectric power, solar and biomass energy (Refer to Figure 1 in Appendix 1).
At some point, our world will run out of fossil fuels due to their excessive use, and the only best source to produce electricity will be the solar energy. Unlike fossil fuels, it is the most efficient way to produce electricity without harming the environment of earth. Significance: Solar energy is not only the cheapest way to produce electricity but the best way to help the environment of the earth.
Preview: Today I will discuss the potential that solar power has to become this country’s main supply of energy and the latest research that can make solar power more efficient and cost effective. I will also present the environmental benefits that come with using solar power over other and more harmful forms of energy.
From the early times of human beings, trying to find ways to harness the suns energy for their daily lives , we have come long ways since the first solar panels now we have other ways to create energy but those aren’t safe they’re dangerous and hazardous to the environment. The future begins with change and we can’t do that if we’re still doing the same things to, burning fossil fuels and power plants are the main sources of today’s pollution. Solar panels are a great thing for this time in age, harnessing the sun’s rays for energy pollutant free air.
I have already written about the obvious benefits of going solar. There are other benefits as well that decrease the impact on our earth over time. Solar panels and battery banks have a life of 25-35 years and don't need anything more than general cleaning, snow removal and monthly water filling. Solar energy is the cleanest and purest form of energy, allowing for cleaner air overall in our environment. There is great hope for a lot more solar panels to be installed worldwide.
In chapter thirteen of our book, Environment by Raven and Berg, it shows us just how important renewable energy sources are. Currently the United States of America thrives on the use of fossil fuels and nuclear power. The main problems with these types of fuel are that they are both limited and can be extremely harmful to our environment. They cause global warming, air pollution, acid rain, and oil spills (Environment), and not only that, but in the grand scheme of things, these sources really aren’t even that cheap of a fuel source. There are many alternatives to these all but outdated fuel sources.
Furthermore, renewable energy technologies are being developed in the United States which has provided a boost in the trade deficit. The use of renewable resources will improve energy security and energy independence. It provides various types of energy resources like sun, biomass, geothermal energy and water resources. It will also provide electricity to rural areas. It will also improve political relations between different countries by using advanced techniques of energy solutions.
