The beliefs and morals in today’s world have changed tremendously compared to decades ago. People were used to the traditional families, which is one woman and one man raising children together. If you were in a same sex relationship you were frowned upon. But in today’s world many people are becoming more accepting to embrace the different ideas of what a traditional family should be. For example, gay couples being allowed to adopt. In the past years, there have been a lot of legal issues pertaining to same sex marriage and adoption. Of course same sex couples cannot produce the same way a heterosexual couple could, which is where this brings conflict. God created one man and one woman to love one another and to go hand in hand to reproduce. Many people have turned away from what the Bible says and become more involved in sinful ways. I think it has progressed a lot in the past years because of social media, television, and movies. People from all over the world are seeing others become this way and making it look like it is acceptable to be this way. People are taking human rights a little too far and forgetting what is Biblically right. In the United States, there are several states that limit adoption to gay couples. There are two ways for a gay couple to adopt, joint adoption and second parent adoption. “In most states, whether gay adoption is legal is made on a case-by-case basis by a judge. However, there are 16 states that definitely allow joint gay adoptions (when a same-sex couple jointly petition for adoption): Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, D.C., Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington” (Facilitators). “Other states ... ... middle of paper ... ...hild. Same sex marriage is not accepted throughout society, there will be parents who don't believe in that and will not allow their children to hang out with your children, which will lead to hurt and confusion for your children. Other children will be wondering and asking your children why you have two dads or two moms. Children are very impressionable, so of course if a child has same sex parents it is going to have a big influence on them. It is known that any trauma that happens in childhood can psychologically affect a person in their future. I respect homosexual couples and I do not judge, but I think all children should have a mother and a father. I know there are a lot of children in need of a good home and that is the only reason why this could be a good idea, but just throwing a child in any family isn’t right either, the child needs a stable family.
...s parents are gay or lesbian couples, you just can’t! It is a pretty hard situation for both the parent and the children going through the process, but it could all be easy if gay and lesbian adoption is taken out of the picture completely.
Throughout the years marriage has drifted from its original meaning, which is described as, "the formal union of a man and a woman, typically recognized by law, by which they become husband and wife," by Oxford Dictionary. Today, marriage can be formed between people of opposite sex, people of the same sex, a man and multiple women, and many more. Many people disagree with forms of marriage other than heterosexual marriage. This is because they go against religious beliefs, as well as alter the true meaning of marriage. People who claim to be "Christians" who are, or support homosexuality, are directly going against God. Marriage is supposed to be a sacred covenant between a man and a woman, therefore, anything other than heterosexual marriage is naturally, morally and religiously wrong.
Homosexual couples should be granted the same freedom to adopt children like heterosexual couples because there are so many children in the foster care who need a nurturing home; it is narrow-minded to think that only heterosexual couples have the capability of raising a child properly; and it is prejudice to exclude homosexuals from adopting a child based on their sexuality. A parent-child relationship may be one of the most sacred and cherished gifts in life but it is also a privilege. The main purpose of adoption is not just for the satisfaction of a couple, regardless of their sexuality—ultimately, it is for the well-being of the adopted child.
The foster children that live in the state of “North Dakota, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio, and New Hampshire, Michigan, Florida” are the most affected (“Finding Gay Adoption…”). First reaso...
In recent years, same-sex relationships have become more encompassing in US society. State legislation is changing such as accepting gay marriages, enforcing anti-discrimination laws, and legal gay adoptions; the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community is becoming public. Gay-headed families, like heterosexuals, are diverse and varying in different forms. Whether a created family is from previous heterosexual relationships, artificial insemination, or adoption, it deserves the same legal rights heterosexual families enjoy. Full adoption rights needs to be legalized in all states to provide a stable family life for children because sexual orientation does not determine parenting skills, children placed with homosexual parents have better well-being than those in foster care, and there are thousands of children waiting for good homes.
Many people think that homosexual marriages would destroy families, and that it is a threat to society and its children. Children are vulnerable and impresstional.
Since the early 1900s, homosexual people have become increasingly popular and greatly resisted. People that are homosexual face barriers placed upon them by the political system and society. Due to these challenges, homosexuals fought to have the same marital and parental rights as heterosexual people. Same-sex adoption is not prohibited in most states in the United States of America and many places worldwide. Family is not determined solely on blood relations and should be legalized in all parts of the world; because homosexual parents are just as good as heterosexual parents, if not better, and can provide an enriching second chance for many children waiting to be adopted.
Reasons ranging from religion to it leading to other non traditional relationships and therefore weakening the values of marriage. Many religions do not accept same sex couples, christianity for example clearly states that god feels that gay marriage is unnatural and a sin to do so. Other people feel that it simply doesnt work because you can not produce a child without one or the other, going back to their animalistic views. Its also widely believed that to raise a child, you need a mother and father. All of these issues no matter how dignified they may seem are simply not enough to hold someone from their rights. Yet we still are having this
Today, adoption professionals are placing more children with homosexual parents. New Jersey was the first state to designate non-discriminatory adoption policies. In addition to current adoption laws, there is also second- parent adoption that can take place where a homosexual parent can adopt in a state where currently legal and their domestic partner can adopt the same child so both parents are legal guardians of that child. “In 1977, Florida passed a law banning ...
The classic movie, Annie, directed by John Huston, is a 1982 movie about a young orphan girl 's adventures in finding a family that will take her. When it starts it shows how all the young children only dream of leaving the orphanage with a family that will love them whether it’s their birth parents or a new loving family. Adoption and fostering are two important things that still affect children around the world today. Deciding to adopt or even to foster is a hard decision, but is beneficial to parents and children everywhere. When planning to adopt, one should be knowledgeable of the history of adoption along with whether they are ready to adopt or if fostering would be best. Once decided, they must look into if they meet the requirements
Families are very diverse, however their dynamic has always been very black and white. When thinking about what a family is a lot of people have drifted towards the idea of a mother and father raising children. It has not been until recently that fact of Gay and Lesbian couples raising children has come into the spotlight. Yet, same-sex couples having been raising children for practically forever. The possibility of same-sex couples raising children has caused a great deal of controversy and anger in the media. Some believe that Gays and Lesbians are an abomination and should not be given the chance to “damage” our youth. The most common reasoning for their thinking being that God created a man and a woman to be together and homosexuals are an abomination. Others believe that Gays and Lesbians are just like everyone else and should be awarded the same rights.
Homosexuality is becoming more and more accepted and integrated into today’s society, however, when it comes to homosexuals establishing families, a problem is posed. In most states, homosexuals can adopt children like any other married or single adult. There are many arguments to this controversial topic; some people believe that it should be legal nationally, while others would prefer that is was banned everywhere, or at least in their individual states. There are logical reasons to allow gays to adopt children, but for some, these reasons are not enough. The main issue really is, what is in the best interest of the child? This type of problem isn’t really one with causes, effects, and solutions, but one with pros and cons. Like any other adoption situation, a parent prove themselves to be responsible and capable enough to raise a child on their own, or with a spouse.
In an interview done by the Huffington post featuring American personal trainer Jillian Michaels and her partner Heidi Rhoades, they talk about how they built their family and how they adopted their Haitian daughter Lukensia Michaels Rhoades. In the interview Jillian states “It is very upsetting knowing the truth now, and knowing that there are over 120,000 kids in the system now whose parental rights have been terminated” (Nichols). Both Jillian and Heidi have so much love for their adopted daughter and son and have such a successful home life without any problems with being same sex parents, so if their home life is the same as everyone else’s then how come in some states homosexual couples aren’t given the same rights as heterosexual couples
There is an abundance of children in the U.S. lacking a home and a family, that of which a gay couple could provide. Some states have legalized joint gay adoption, while others are still on the fence about it, and would rather not pass the law. A reason why those states should pass the law is, because of the foster care system. Many children, whether it’s a boy or girl, can jump to and from at least twenty homes before they turn 18. Some would be against the gay adoption, because they feel like the child would choose their sexual orientation based off what they see their adoptive parents doing. Those people fail to realize that having gay parents wouldn’t affect the child’s sexual preference. Just like having hetrosexcual parents cannot change a child from being gay. Lastly, another reason why gay adoption should be legalized nationwide is because, many people use their judgement from religious background to vote “NO” on joint gay adoption. When the 1st amendment clearly states that there needs to be a separation between church and
Many people believe in a traditional marriage between a man and a woman. God created man and woman to be faithful and produce children. Same-sex marriage is contrary to the word of God and the laws of nature; therefore, it is incompatible with the beliefs, sacred texts, and traditions of many religious groups. Many biblical scriptures talk about how immoral same-sex marriage is.
