Is there a true need to pursue renewable resources or are we just wasting valuable time? This is the question on countless minds as time passes and debates grow more complex and arguably more futile. My position currently with the information provided and what I can infer, is as follows; Renewable energy is an extremely important topic for the world to look into. We may be able to sustain ourselves for a while longer, but ultimately the growth rate of the population and its stress on many of the Earth's resources will eventually lead to a crossroads, either we find ways to supplement and possibly eliminate the need for non-renewable resources, or we slowly decay and take the Earth with us. There are many ways for us to, and some already have, …show more content…

Several electricity providers today use wind plants to supply power to their customers”. Along with the seeming renewability of solar, hydro, geothermal, and wind, more recently there has been much work done to make these options more affordable. “Fresno was among the first cities in the u.s. to adopt the scaling of solar out at the edge of the grid, out helping provide deferrals for transformer upgrades being able to sync up with substations, and now that costs have fallen into the range of a dollar a watt we're in the realm of being able to compete for supplying bulk power needs” (U.S. Department of Energy). Another plausible source of renewable energy that can be found on every continent is geothermal energy. As stated by the NREL, “Many technologies have been developed to take advantage of geothermal energy… the variety of geothermal resources allows it to be used on both large and small scales. A utility can use the hot water and steam from reservoirs to drive generators and produce electricity for its
