Legalizing the World Ever wonder what a world full of weed would be like? Ever think that it wouldn’t just be for the high? Many college students believe that marijuana should not be legalized, but through research and personal experience I have found that the legalization of it could benefit us in many positive ways. The legalization of marijuana might be one of the biggest debates America has to offer, due to the controversy over whether it’s good or bad for you; people don’t want to think of the other uses it has to offer. If you take a step back and look at the bigger picture, the multiple uses for marijuana is staggering. Medically, most people would say that marijuana won’t help anything. They just assume people want a reason to smoke or ingest weed in any matter possible. But from many studies, medical weed has been proven to help subdue the side effects of many illnesses. From how it could be a medically breakthrough, to how the use of the actual plant itself could help us create a healthier place to live in. A vast majority of people have a negative view of marijuana. Mainly because that’s how they were brought up. There was an English teacher last year that didn’t want anyone to write an essay on weed because she didn’t agree with it. But someone had sat down and basically interviewed her on why she thought that, and her response was what most people would say. “I grew up being told it wasn’t good for you in any way”, which in my eyes says that her mind was too clouded by history and the false negativities about weed made her think that way. And after reading the essay, she had a different point of view on the subject. So in short, if people would stop and do actual research about marijuana, they would see how healthy of a plant it is for many different reasons. We were just brought up to think it was bad for us because of what someone said so long
