In this day and age, there are many issues that our country is facing, from corruption in our government to racial intolerances, this paper will be centered on the topic of Illegal immigration. One of the largest social issues our country is facing has to do with the illegal immigration across our borders. Abraham Lincoln once said “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.” This quote is directly linked to our current situation in time. In this current time the american people want something to be done to stop this growing social issue, and our “Commander in chief”, President Obama, Is doing nothing to reduce or stop the illegal immigration.
First here is some background on the topic of illegal immigration. Illegal immigration has been a big problem in the United States for the past hundred years or so. The topic first came to light in the early 1900’s when the United States started filling up with people. The first system that was used was called the “Quota System.” This system granted immigration to few selected minorities. Fast forward to the 1980’s, the quota system had been abandoned and people were taking advantage of the system and coming to our country illegally. The topic of illegal …show more content…

Kates Law would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to increase penalties applicable to aliens who unlawfully re’enter the United States after being removed. This law would protect the american people from acts of crime like in the case of Mrs. Steinle. This bill would initially deport illegal immigrants, and if they were caught again entering or living in our country they would get 5 years minimum in a maximum security prison, and deported after their sentence is finished.
