STAY HEALTHY ON HOLIDAY
Taking a holiday is the perfect way to unwind and rejuvenate, to celebrate an event or to see new places and try new things. The last thing anyone needs whilst away from home is to fall ill. Most of us prepare by taking along a selection of medication ‘just in case’ we fall foul of some rampant germ or badly cooked prawn.
In reality, the best way to deal with the potential to fall ill is to do everything in your power to prevent it happening in the first place.
If you are planning a trip in the near future, take a look at these tips on how to stay healthy on holiday.
BEFOREHAND
• Check for any vaccinations necessary for your particular destination. It’s just not worth taking a risk to save one moment of discomfort.

• Pack medication just in case you pick up a stomach bug and rehydration salts.
• Hand Sanitizer or wipes are handy to take on day trips just in case you don’t get the chance to wash your hands regularly.
Food
In the modern world, reputable restaurants and hotels are very careful about the way they prepare your food. If you avoid eating snacks from dodgy street vendors you will mostly avoid the usual holiday horror stories of old. Yet some of us do still suffer the odd stomach upset whilst on holiday and there are some common factors which cause this phenomenon:
• Everyone tends to splurge when they are away and indulge in calorie-laden meals. Our bodies are simply not used to this abuse: o Don’t deny yourself the odd cooked breakfast but alternate with healthier choices in-between. o Just because restaurants offer up huge portions doesn’t mean you have to eat every morsel. o Avoid over-snacking – if you feel peckish choose fruit and nuts rather than salty crisps. o Moderation is the key – there is no shame in sticking to the type of foods and portion sizes that you are used

• If your hotel has a gym why not use it – you’re paying for it anyway.
• Take a stroll after dinner – this will help you digest those extra large portion sizes and stop you feeling bloated overnight.
• During your flight, particularly long-haul, it’s important to move your body as much as possible. Once you’re mid-air take a wander around the aircraft regularly (avoiding irritating the cabin crew though) and flex your arms and legs regularly. Don’t forget to drink that water too!
Sleep
Some of the more die-hard party animals among you may want to burn the candle at both ends. However, you could end up returning home more exhausted that beforehand. Make sure that you get plenty of quality sleep to enable you to enjoy all of the exciting activities that you will participate in.
Hair & Skin
In hot countries:
• Protect your skin with a high factor waterproof sun-screen (SPF 30 if possible) - higher for children. Reapply regularly, particularly after swimming.
• If you want to top up your Vitamin D levels only risk exposure very early in the morning before the sun becomes too
If you're watching your weight, the festive season brings great temptation in the form of delicious food, but you don't have to avoid all of your favorite holiday treats if you practise moderation. The trick is to not deprive yourself completely of all of the delicious festive food, or you're likely to cave in and over-indulge. Rather, before eating, ask yourself if you really need or want what you're about to eat, or if you're just eating because the food is there. Decide your limit regarding food and alcohol before a social event or meal, be mindful about what you put on your plate, and don't go back for seconds. It often helps to eat a light, healthy meal a couple of hours
As important as it is to exercise, it may be even more important to watch what you eat. It is not so much of what you eat, but how much you eat, when you eat, and how often you eat. If you eat low in calorie snacks between meals, you will not be as hungry during normal meals, causing you to eat less then you would have without the snacks.
Time is a very important thing to all of us. Many people all ready of busy schedules, whether with work or school. When someone gets sick that reduces the amount of time that you have to do other things. Also it can reduce the amount of time that others have too. When you are not available to do a job because you are sick, someone has to take up for you which will cause them to have less time for the things they need to do. So take a step and get vaccinated as soon as possible.
When someone looks at an overweight person, young or old, there is no argument that they should incorporate more exercise into their life, so why haven't they? There are many reasons why people say that they cannot go to the gym. Most of them are just excuses because people are lazy and do not want to put the time and effort into it. But, some people who are overweight tend to show signs of low self-esteem and may not be comfortable with exercising in public because of this. This makes it very hard for them to get motivated so instead they choose to hide away in within the comfort of their own house where no one can see them and they eat away their sorrows. On the other hand, some overweight people may have never been to a gym so they are intimidated by physically fit people and all the exercise equipment because they don't know how to use it. There are also people who are overweight and have a handicap which is what they use as an excuse. Even though being handicap does have some disadvantages there are many ways to work around them, all it takes is dedication. All of these signs show that people who are overweight need to find an outside energy source to get started on the right path, to find this they should hire a personal trainer. Having a personal trainer by someone's side while at the gym will greatly boost that much needed motivation and overtime a person's confidence as they see the physical changes and become more accustomed to the idea of exercising.
Wear sunscreen year-round. Sunscreens don 't filter out all harmful UV radiation, especially the radiation
Sick employees increase the risk of the illness in the workplace. The following tips will assist in preventing the spread of disease:
One of the leading factors to obesity is everyone's eating habits. The world continues to move at a faster pace forcing everyone to lack the availability to sit down and enjoy a healthy homemade meal. It becomes more difficult every day to get into the habit of eating good when we are so use to our normal bad eating habits.
The more you feel full, the less you’ll crave to eat or snack. That alone will help in your diet since your caloric level won’t go overboard due to overeating.
Americans use this statement to validate going out to eat rather than cooking. Bittman argues that this statement is used to explain the reasoning of why people are overweight, particularly in lower income families (660). The reality is that it is not cheaper to buy fast food or junk food, but actually cheaper to cook a home cooked meal. It could cost around 28 dollars to feed a family of four at McDonalds, while it can cost around 14 dollars to cook a meal at home and even low as 9 dollars (Bittman660). Excuses of junk food being cheaper is not relevant, it is the lack of time wanting to spend and the way society and the body is programmed. “The core problem is that cooking is defined as work, and fast food is both a pleasure and crutch” (Bittman 661). They rather do what is easier and more comfortable for them. Instead of justifying the bad habit, individuals should make a conscious attempt in making meals. Planning meals ahead of time and intentional putting time forward to do this for their
If you are on dieting, and trying your best to lose those extra pounds, your worst enemy could only be your cravings for food. Of course, you were once a food junkie, which is why today you are on the hard path of dieting. And you can’t afford to be a foodie once again, especially if you are being health conscious.
According to the CDC, the best alternative is practicing hygiene, such as washing hands with soap and water or using hand sanitizer, stay away from items that have been in contact with someone infected and avoid going to a funeral or burial of someone who has died from Ebola. Patients who travel outside of the country will have to monitor their health for 21 days. If symptoms occur there are diagnostic tests available such as, Antigen-capture testing, IgM ELISA, Polymerase chain reaction and Virus isolation. If infected the recovering patient will receive IgM and IgG antibodies. As of now Doctors have only discussed vaccines and cures for
Furthermore, when going to a restaurant to have dinner, they serve you an over sized food portions. Not only in food places, but also: in gas stations, movies theaters, supermarkets, and even at your own home. That oversize meal can feed two or more people at once, but since no one does shares their meal, this means too many calories going in you. Over time, this will put your health at risk, which will cause you to become overweight and lead to obesity (“What Causes”). Along with affecting your daily health, well being, energy and fitness levels, being overweight can lead to more serious factors in your life. You can be at risk for
Remember when you were a kid or even a college student and your parents always told you that you need to eat breakfast? Now try to go back to the day when you did eat breakfast in the morning; were you more energized and productive? Food has a direct impact on our cognitive performance, which is why a poor decision at meal time can derail an entire afternoon. Almost everything that we eat is converted by our body into glucose, which provides our brain with the energy it needs to stay alert. When we are running low on glucose, we struggle to stay focused. This is why it’s hard to stay concentrated on an empty stomach. Not all foods are processed at the same rate in our bodies. Certain foods like pasta, cereal, bread, and soda, release their glucose quickly, which leads to a burst of energy. However, foods like a cheeseburger, fries, and BLT provide sustained energy, but requires our digestive system to work harder, making the oxygen levels in the brain lower and makes you feel groggy. So what makes us choose the wrong choices for meals? When you 're in a hurry, mentally drained, or short for money it seems as if it is just easier to get foods like a cheeseburger and fries instead of a salad and fruit. Whatever your choice is it will have an affect to the rest of your day. Research shows that eating fruits and vegetables throughout the day isn 't just good for your body—it’s also good for your mind. There was
But take note, just take the right amount of food only to sustain the needs of your body to keep going, too much is not good for your body
The problem is that many people do not realize the enormous effect their eating habits have on their bodies.
