Recommended: An essay about the advantages of electric cars

Electric Vehicles
Electric vehicles don’t release pollution which is amazing since it makes the world around us healthier. And that's great because vehicles are responsible for over 26% of emissions. Unfortunately, it comes at a cost, a HUGE cost. What I’m trying to say is that electric cars are expensive. At the cheapest one in America coming to over twenty-thousand dollars. An estimate shows that by 2040 10% of cars will be electric. Proponents of electric vehicles argue that it’s healthy for the environment; however, opponents say that you still have to burn fossil fuels to make electricity. After conducting through, I believe that people should buy electric cars because it would make our environment healthy again.

Recently, the price for electric cars has gone up. H. Sterling Barnett is a research fellow on energy and the environment at Heartland Institute says,” In 2016, only 159,333 electric vehicles were sold in the United States--less than one-tenth of 1 percent of the 17.55 million vehicles sold nationwide.”(H. Sterling Barnett) This evidence shows that not everyone can afford an electric vehicle because they are expensive. To makes things worse, the richest 20% of Americans got 90% of taxpayers money. Researchers at the University of California reported,” A 2015 study from researchers at the University of California at Berkeley and the National Bureau of Economic Research found the richest 20 percent of Americans received 90 percent of the hundreds of millions of dollars given in taxpayer subsidies for electric vehicles.”(H. Sterling Barnett) Not to mention, that fuel efficiency for normal cars is a lot better. Geoffrey Morgan is an energy reporter and also works at Financial Post reported,” Burns said fuel efficiency regulations in the U.S. could hamper the demand for petroleum in North America by between 30 and 45 percent by 2025.”(Burns) This proves that if people get fuel efficient cars they won’t have to worry about buying an electric car.
