Therefore, the drills aren’t beneficial for the coaches, especially the players and isn’t affecting the fundamental skills to help the mental mind. One of the biggest thing about drills is making it fun. Coaches don’t sometimes realize that one of the best ways to keep their players motivated and to make the players better is keeping it fun. Most players, especially the younger ones, high school wise, think it’s many times more fun when their are fast and competitive drills are being run. Drills that should improve and benefit the defense fundamental side of basketball. On ball defense, stay in a stance, trace ball, active hands. Help side defense, stay in the key, ball-you-man. Closing out, high hands, stay on the ground, absorb speed with chop steps, read offense, to choose whether your opponent is a shooter or driver. Denying the ball, up in his face, hand in the passing lane, ball-you-man. On the offense side, creating lanes, V-cut to get open, setting screens to get a team member open. Basketball Rule #2 (pg.51) “(Random text from Dad) Hustle dig, grind push, run fast, change pivot, chase pull, aim shoot, work smart, live smarter, play hard, practice harder”, this correlates because at a practice a couple pages later his coach has them do sprints and he says, “The winner doesn’t have to practice today” He is in the lead and he says, “ I let him win and get ready to practice harder”
Practicing is the second major part of being on drill team. If you don’t practice you don’t look good at the performance. You practice more than you do anything else. We all know the saying practice makes perfect well this was one of my coach’s favorite sayings. I don’t care if it was twelve in the morning if we didn’t look good or as one we were going to keep practicing until we got the chorography correct and until we looked good as a team. Practicing and doing things over and over can sometimes become very
What is the most popular sport in America? The most popular sport in America would be the rugged game of football. Millions of fans wait in anticipation each year for the season to begin. The truth is the game is a very dangerous sport. It’s rooted with violence and physical aggression. Players are groomed from their youth to get bigger, faster, and stronger. Football is geared toward physical domination, get your opponent before he gets you with tackling, hitting, or by any means necessary, take them out before they take you out. Bones are broken, internal organs rupture, concussions are frequent and occasionally players die. Is the game worth the price? Is a human life worth less than monetary gain or entertainment? The answer
When I was a ballplayer, my teams were very successful because my coaches told us the importance of practicing. One year my coach could not coach us because he did not have the time to do it. That same year the teams were shuffled and everybody had different teammates. My best friend, Wes Cook, made it on my team. Wes was the best player anybody had ever seen. However, He did not enjoy practicing. He thought he could succeed without practicing. Our new coach was laidback at practice. This made Wes especially happy. Coach did not make the team practice hard; we just had to catch fly balls, ground balls, and practice hitting. I batted third after We. My team, the Price Drug Braves, started the season hot; we won our first five games.
“Concussion rates for children under the age of 19 who play football have doubled in the last decade, even though the overall sports participation has declined” (Youth Football Concussion Statistics). Football is extremely popular in American culture. Children all across the world love watching and playing the sport. However, many studies have shown numerous possible long term effects of starting the beloved sport when young. Undeveloped brains have a harder time recovering from bumps and blows that occur during playing time. After examining the long term effects of children playing football, it is clear that the tradition of tackle football in youth should be held off until the brain is more fully developed,
While excelling as an inexperience basketball player, I was taught the improper mechanics and incorrect techniques on learning to shoot an appropriate jump shot. Following in my basketball career I developed as a shooting guard, leading to me being criticized for being a two-handed shooter. While blooming as an athlete and player, my college coach pointed out my distant actions and from then I grew interested in learning the research behind the mechanics I do when performing a jump shot. Because I got the opportunity...
Football, just another method to throw life away. Football is an extremely unsafe sport, yet it is glorified by several in the United States. A plethora of football players are impacted negatively by injuries that may occur just by playing an "innocent" little game of tackle football. It is necessary to consider all the dreadful outcomes that may happen before taking the chance to play. Young individuals shouldn't play tackle football due to the trauma it can cause to the brain, the injuries or occurrences that can lead to a harder life or even death, and it leaves the players to be less sharp in their old age. It is often thought that football is a harmless game for kids to enjoy. Nevertheless, the amount of health issues and injuries that can be caused by football is unbelievable and not worth the risk.
For some people sports is just a game, to athletes it is their life. According to the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) an athlete can only participate in their own school’s sports or club sports (OHSAA). This means at New Knoxville Local School, my school, my brother or any other athlete won’t be able to play football while attending school at New Knoxville. My intention is to make it possible to go to school at one place, but play sports at another school.
In stadiums, parks and fields all across America, many youth participate in a journey through defeat, heartbreak, hard work, and success. Practicing for hours, rain or shine, to be able to snag that game winning touchdown in the back of the endzone. Although football comes with many risks and dangers, I strongly believe that kids and teens should be allowed to play football because it promotes leadership, teamwork, and requires significant amounts of exercise and cardiovascular activity, and other contact sports are just as dangerous.
So, in case you ever find yourself playing basketball, remember to use the correct form, have the proper stance, jump, and follow through. Now that you know all of the steps to shooting a basket all you have to do is put them together. Set your hands, feet, jump, and follow through. It might feel different at first, but the more you practice the more natural it will feel and the better you will
Some schools force students to participate in organized school sports. However, I believe that schools should not make this a requirement. Some students may have medical conditions, family situations that don't allow them to participate in organized school sports, or they simply may not have the time.

The first step I will teach them is the form they should do when attacking the basket. I will show them if you go to the right side you leap of with your left leg but if you go to the left side it's the right foot. Once I show them the basics I will separate the class to different baskets where they could practice. Each student will need to make a least 15 layups if they want to finnish. Once this is completed I will show them different types of layups that they can perform.
