Cyber- Bullying Technology has expanded exponentially within the last two decades. People have more virtual ways of communicating rather than face to face interaction. Hurtful words appear on a computer screen or cell phone, launching a series of aggression and abuse. A cell phone, social media including Facebook statuses, Tweeting on Twitter – and all it takes is one simple status including one or two lines to torment faith in one’s self, bring many tears and emotions to sabotage a friendship. Looking for attention from a guy she met on the internet and thought he was cute. He had proceeded to ask her for a picture of her breasts so she sent it to this man where he then blackmailed her with it and tortured her with it to show more or else he would circulate the web with this picture. When she said enough was enough, he sent that picture out to EVERYONE in her class and all of her family. Her “friends” started harassing her, started face-to-face bullying, and online bullying happened 24 hours 7 days a week. She came to the point she didn’t want to show her face at school anymore and she started to become deeply depressed, she had feelings that no matter where she went that all eyes were on her and people were constantly judging her. Her mother knew about this and her only option at that point was to have her daughter move schools to have a fresh start. However this guy she’d met on the internet that was torturing her would go undercover and create more problems with the new people she’d met, he followed her everywhere she went via internet. She cried every night and lost all of her friends and people she had just met lost respect for her (Amanda Todd, 2012) She had attempted suicide multiple times and then turned to drugs and alcohol and skipped class almost every day until October 10th, 2012 when she took her own …show more content…

Comparing all three stories of cyber-bullying resulted in death because these victims were humiliated and felt rejection. Cyber-bullying usually begins with one bully and ends with many for the simple fact that the internet is open to the public and posting anything to the virtual online world is never gone, essentially it’s on there ‘forever’. Although being punched is not as public, cyber-bullying is hidden easier which makes it worse because so many people are ending their lives because of it. With technology on the rise this generation has to experience cyber-bullying because of the online audience all being involved in everyone’s business. Technology has lifelong effects on amplifying hurt to people because it’s an open world for peoples to connect with others which could increase teen suicide rates. In comparison to the three stories wasn’t based off of one single person or event these people have suffered depression which is an illness from enviromental factors. Cyber bullying also leads to bullying in school and these are significant factors that triggered these deaths. These tragedies were shared to show people the intense pain families have endured after the loss of a young life and how to potentially prevent it from happening to the growing
