Every new school year that begins teachers, parents, and student are under the pressure of being successful and every year we try something different a change to make the school better. Theres pressure because of all the rule changes and requirements. One of the changes that can make us a better school is having little homework or no homework at all. People can agree that it is way too much homework on our hands. Teachers are trying to get through lessons fast trying to show through grades and paperwork showing what we learned. There are people that say that there isnt any evidence to show us that homework helps students achieve things, too much of it can overwhelm students and cause them to disconnect from the purpose of school. Students have 6 classes and you have class assignments every day most of them are homework and most the time students have homework in every class every week and its overwhelming because theres days we have 2 to 3 things do the same day. As a result, Obviously, this is a threat to our health as a developing teenager. With so many hours spent in school and homework almost takes my whole day up and like i said before we already have other things we have in our schedule causing us to stay up later than 11 o’clock at night later than we should. With this in mind, doing this on a daily basis can affect a teenagers growth, and result in stress and losing control over their peace of mind because everyone knows that no good sleep leads to other health issues mentally, and physically and can affect easily our performance in school. Stress can cause many things including: no sleeping, low grades, fatigue, unhealthy eating habits, depression, and many more. A teen should not have to face these kind of struggles at such a young age. Most of the times in school kids knowledge are based off of kids doing their homework or not and that makes teenagers feel discouraged. Alot of times you can see that kids do good on tests than they do on their homework, so it shouldnt define how smart you are, being taught how to do something with packets and books just isn’t the same as being taught hands on by an actual human being . Kids lack inspiration
When you think about school one of the first things that pops into people’s mind is homework. Basically if you have asked your parents or your grandparents they would say that they remember the homework load. Now we all know that homework can be beneficial but also can be very unhealthy with all of the stress that it causes. Over the years the homework load has increased because of the fact that schools think that they need to try to keep up with other countries in academics. And will doing all of this homework now be all for nothing later? The homework load has increased these past couple of years and it is causing a lot of stress on kids and overall is not helping their academics in the long run.
The arts department needs funding for the students and the students need supplies. some schools actually have trouble keeping the art department funded and still thinks it's important to keep due to the football and sports outcry when the sports teams gets a little budget cuts. The art department needs more funding in schools because kids need outlets to express their emotions.School district without the arts leave many students without an outlet for the creative capabilities and without options for expression of their talents. schools districts struggle to avoid deficit spending districts superintendents are looking for ways to save money.
Since we established our first schools in America, we have been in a constant state of change. We have progressed from schools made purely to teach young white boys the bible so that they could become preachers, to schools that allow women, to schools that are made to prepare everyone for their future. Even though we have had an abundance of good change, we have also had an abundance of bad change. Education Reform, in concept, is a great idea. Society is changing so our schools should be changing at the same rate. Our schools are struggling and we need to work towards reforming them for the better. The problem is, this reform is being put in place and decided by people who have never taught a day in their life. There are many different examples of reforms put in place by people who have never taught, that are failing out students. No Child Left Behind, Common Core State Standards, Race to the Top, and other reforms are all examples of these failures. We need to look back on the mistakes that we have made through these reforms, and use this knowledge to improve future reform.
If teenagers don't get enough sleep that can start to become a safety hazard mentally and physically. There have been many students in situations where school can become to difficult and if you're not getting enough sleep that obviously doesn't help. Students in these kind of dilemmas can be to over whelming so people can make very intense situations such as drugs, bad hobbies, and sometimes committing suicide. Too much pressure can be way too much power especially for a student in high school or middle school because they are so young. This can be a very
The education system has been changing in recent years and the same problems that existed continue to get worse as years pass. Problems that were seen as minor at first have now grown. How to change the public higher education system has been a major topic of discussion but there has still been no major action taken. We struggle to figure out how much funding is needed for higher education and where it should come from. Our people continue to suffer from an underfunded high cost system. The wealthy minority of people continue to be the only ones accounted for and it is time to change this. We need to adapt to the changes and the costs that continue to rise. It is time to help the struggling middle and lower classes. I believe that the best
Adolescents all around the world stay up playing video games, playing on their phones, playing around with their friends, or cramming in an assignment that’s due the next day due to their procrastination. With all these contributing factors, sleep is the last thing on any teen’s mind. School work has a big effect on teens while trying to do it and do it right and get a good night’s sleep every night. The more and more sleep you get each night, the easier it is to get better grades in school, understand things better, and progress easier and faster. Lack of sleep can cause teens to not care thus making their effort poor on their work while their drive and motivation to learn is
87 percent of high school teens are not getting the sleep that is recommended for a healthy lifestyle. Because, school starts at an early time, the time for sleep is compressed to a point where their minds and bodies are not ready to be awake (Richter, Ruthann). Due to having cell phones teens are staying up later, after doing homework to check their social media account, talk to family members, and to catch up on the new they missed out on in school or while doing homework. With the academic stress that is put on to teenagers in this modern world that has so much to offer and not enough time to seek it all, many come home from various practices and jobs just to do four to five hours of homework from advanced classes or even extra work from level classes that are required in all schools. The school should reduce the amount of homework given every night
According to the National Sleep Foundation, 33% of high school students fall asleep during school. Most people claim that the students being tired is due to them simply staying up too late, but that is not always the case. The way that the school start times are set up, now it is nearly impossible to get the amount of sleep that students need to function. With the biological sleep clock of students having them fall asleep at 11:00pm and then having to be up at 6:00 in the morning to get ready, the ten-hour goal is unachievable. When students are sleep deprived their focus and attention drift more easily making it significantly harder to pay attention in class. The lack of sleep also impacts students memory, the brain has to work harder to be able to retrieve previously learned information (Sleep, Learning, and Memory). Students who have gotten a good night rest are proven to pay more attention in
The youth of the nation are both the backbone and living representation of what the future will hold. A teacher once told me, that the reason why she teaches is because the knowledge she gives us will greatly affect the world and she hopes it is for a positive effect. Education is essential for a nation to survive and thrive. What that education consists of is determined by what society views as important for the future. Therefore, why is it that the government is more concerned about funding and the other nation 's views than on the young 's people is education. Terrell Bell said the reason for A Nation at Risk, was to convince the Regan administration that the Department of Education is necessary. A Nation at Risk was a masterpiece of propaganda
Proper school funding is one of the keys to having a successful school. Americans believe that funding is the biggest problem in public schools. School improvements revolve around funding. There needs to be funding not only in the successful schools but also the schools that aren’t doing as well. In documentary, Waiting for Superman, it talks about how smaller class sizes will help students. Funding is what will help the smaller class sizes. State funding mechanisms are subject to intense political and economic scrutiny (Leonard). Studies have shown that funding is inversely related to accreditation levels (Leonard). School funding needs to be increased, but there must be accountability as well.
Have you ever wanted to just shred up your homework or throw it out the window and have no consequences? Kids are assigned daily homework from the time they start kindergarten at the ripe young age of five. Is it really necessary? Does it even help better learning or even higher test scores? The amount of homework we do wastes time, money, paper, and trees because it’s practically the exact same thing we did in class that day. Homework causes kid’s and teen’s frustration, tiredness, little time for other activities and possibly even a loss of interest in their education. It also keeps everyone up; it has kids and teens staying up until they finish it, the parents trying to help them and the teachers grading it. So, I think that homework is a waste and kids and teens should choose whether they want to do their homework for extra credit and practice or not.
Homework is for suckers. Homework causes stress for students as well as for parents. Homework is extremely demanding and many students are spending far too many hours after school to complete their homework assignments. Although, some students may be able to whiz right through their homework, other students crawl along struggling at a snail’s pace. Consequently, family time is put on the back burner due to the time constraints of homework. Additionally, any extracurricular activities are also put on hold. Homework is nothing more than a scapegoat for teachers so that they can pawn off their due responsibilities on parents and students. Homework should be banned for students Kindergarten through 8th grade because the negative effects do not out weight the benefits that come from homework.
This will help promote my side of the argument so that my side will be the superior argument and will attract more readers. I think kids should have less homework.Three reasons are, that homework is stressful, kids are given more homework than required, and it puts pressure on students causing them to work to hard and and have anxiety and health issues.
Education is meant to be the key to a successful life. It is supposed to inspire great ideas, and prepare each and every generation for their future. However, school for today 's generation fails to meet those requirements. Every student knows education is important, but when school is not engaging or in some cases, even relevant, it makes learning difficult. Improving the school system is something educators attempt to accomplish every year. Despite their best efforts, there are numerous flaws students see, but adults overlook. There is a lack of diversity for students to learn, an overabundance of testing, and students’ voices are being ignored on how to create a more productive learning experience.
Education has played an important role in people’s lives and receiving the best education is a right to all humans, but now in days we can see that our education system is in deep distress. This is made evident by the low rate of graduates; that’s why our education system needs to be improved. Many people think that our government is responsible for our bad education system, However, teachers are the real issue even though many teachers are saying they 're doing their best, they’re not. How do we improve our education system? For a start, we need to provide better teaching programs for teachers to improve their skills and make them earn their tenure instead of just giving it to them.
