Death is an event that everyone is certain will happen,but unsure of the circumstances surrounding it. Humans are under the assumption that death is far away,yet there is no way of possibly knowing the outcome,however for some terminally ill patients they do know their time is running out. Some people and many cases of terminal illness case, the pain and suffering they endure can become to much and they opt for euthanasia. Euthanasia should be legalized in all fifty states of the United States of America. History has in every sense of the word marked the present for people,euthanasia is not the exception. Robert Ho and Natalie Chantagul are authors of the journal Support for Voluntary and Non-voluntary Euthanasia: What Roles Do Conditions of Suffering and the Identity of the Terminally III Play?. Robert Ho is a professor of biology and anatomy. Natalie Chantagul has a phD in physiology. It is not seen as morally wrong to euthanized a patients, if done by the request of the patient and only if requested by the patient (Ho and Chantagul 253). Many times patients request euthanasia in order to reduce the pain and suffering Patients also seek to be euthanized, because they feel that they are a weight on their loved ones (Ho and Chantagul 254). It is difficult for people living with terminally illness and have to endure pain and suffering and not be able to opt for terminating their life. The people that do chose euthanasia, do it because they do not want their loved ones to endure their pain and suffering as well and they do not want to feel that they are a cargo on their family. There is new research suggesting that the treatments used for patients on life support ,do not meet their needs nor do they meet the patients will (Gardner 226). Physicians have a lot of power over their patients, many physicians advocate for the legalization of euthanasia (Shai 79). The physician’s duty is to ease the pain of the patient and, since many of the terminally ill patients experience unbearable pain, they do what they can and opt for euthanasia (Shai 79). Doctors are by law require to meet the needs of the patients and many times patients request for the doctors to alleviate the pain, although this could mean the termination the patients life. Physicians see the pain that their patients suffer and know what methods can ease the pain, not every patients suffering from chronic diseases will be given the same treatment, however if the patient is given the treatment of euthanasia, there is a reason behind that action. Pain is a contributing factor to the patients request to be euthanatized furthermore research has shown that the amount of pain they experiences rises to forty percent in last couple days of their lives.(Ho and Chantagul 254). Not only do patients with cancer experience untorable pain, but other terminal ill patients suffer as well. None of the patients who live through the pain what to be destroyed by i(Ho and Chantagul 254).
