While walking through the Bondurant- Farrar study hall I noticed students were very busy. They were busy talking to each other, watching Netflix, or playing on their cellphones. The possibility that the students don’t have homework is reasonable, but why are they still forced to be at school? Why are the students who are behind on homework allowed to watch movies and play games without punishment? I propose that the students proven to be finished with homework be allowed to leave school during their study halls. I also propose that the students not finished with their homework be strictly monitored during study halls, to make sure they are working on their past and current homework. Every study hall has a teacher who monitors the room and takes attendance. Many teachers have better things to do then remind students to be quiet, or take long rolls of attendance. Teachers could be helping students with questions, grading papers, or planning lessons out. Most teachers would agree they would rather be doing something more productive than asking students, mostly ones all done with work, to find something to do other than playing on their phones. With fewer students in study halls it allows the students behind on work to have a more one-on-one setting with the teacher on duty. Students often can get persuaded by their friends to not do work, especially if their friends are playing games. If the students who have their work done were eliminated, and the study hall atmosphere was quiet with little distractions present, students would be more likely to work on homework.
