Middle School
Now that middle school is coming to a great end I thought I would write about it. I didn’t think middle school was going to be as easy as it actually is. My 5th grade teacher always said it was going to harder than elementary school but it’s not in my opinion.
My 6th grade year was probably the best I mean all of them were great but if I had to pick my favorite year it would be 6th grade. Just because I had great friends, good teachers and surprisingly good grades. I think you definitely get more freedom in middle school that was a really good thing about it. You had more than one teacher, didn’t have just one classroom, you could go to the bathroom without your entire class, and you didn’t have to walk in a line everywhere
Wow, three years have passed and the last day is just as long as the first. Three years of hard discipline and learning to get used to homework every night. Three years of standing on the front steps waiting for my parents and saying goodbye to my teachers. I never thought the goodbye might be permanent. 6th grade came and I was looking up at those giant 8th graders, and now I guess I’m one of them. 6th grade, and I was saying hello, and now 8th grade has come and it’s gone from introductions to goodbyes as my last days as a middle school student wind down.
I make this statement based off of a rather small sample size: myself (my 8th grade science teacher would scold me for this). Nonetheless, middle school was truly difficult. I don't say this because of rigorous courses, or frustratingly strict bathroom rules, but rather because I spoke close to no English for a large part of it.

But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that is it stupid.” Sir Ken Robinson stated that schools are destroying children 's creativity with their curriculum, there are many facts that support this idea. Students are required to think a specific way, prepare the way teachers want them to be prepared. Students also have their own opinion, because they are not afraid to be wrong, and need a way to move forward.

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board, has only ever considered what they think we, the students, need. Never asking us what we want1 for our school and what we think is most needed. Clubs and teams at St. David’s are heavily underfunded. Many clubs or teams such as Arts Club and Team Dave2 deserve equal funding to the sports teams. Students on sports teams have never had to fundraise for trips or equipment whereas the arts department must save up their money for two years to put on a good show people will want to see. As well Team Dave must go out to companies and try to persuade them to sponsor the team. I know for a fact as a member of team Dave that we have to fundraise for the robot’s parts, the costs for travel to competitions, which includes food a housing arrangements, and competitions entry fees. Does this sounds fair to you? No it doesn’t! 3
Have you ever felt weighed down and overloaded by looking at all the homework you had, with no breaks to look forward to? Have you ever caught yourself thinking that this school system doesn’t push you enough to reach your full potential? Have you ever been in class, and you had no idea what the teacher was talking about, because it was material from last year,all things you forgot over summer break?You likely answered yes to theses questions because we’ve all been in these situations. But there is a way to avoid this from happening again. Euclid High School students should attend year-round school in order to avoid forgetting information, reduce their students level of stress, and to fully benefit them academically.

In today’s society, however, you don’t need to be able to run faster than a speeding bullet, have x-ray vision, or possess superhuman strength to change the world. Teachers can change the world by simply teaching a child how to be compassionate or teach basic life skills.
With all the stress and wildness we have in school now, if there was school year-round students and teachers would not know what to do. Students would get tired of school if it was this way. Most of them would drop out and then teachers would be out a job. Teachers and students need a break from school to relax and enjoy not stressing about all the work that has to be done. Having school year-round should not be an option because students/teachers could lose opportunities with work and trainings, and could have an increase in stress.
Common Core is now state law in Maryland. Until Maryland decides to opt out of Common Core, we have to attack it the best way we can. I fear, however, that a nationalized set of standards diminishes local control of our education process and limits the creative teaching process.
An anonymous author once said, "What you need to know about the past is that no matter what has happened, it has all worked together to bring you to this very moment. And this is the moment you can choose to make everything new. Right now." Over the course of my school years, it has been an exciting and shocking experience. These experiences have been an enjoyable journey from my elementary to middle school years. However, after several years the end of my middle school adventure is coming to a close. Soon my new journey will start as a freshman. Eight grade will surely be one of my most memorable years. It has been an absolute wonderful one hundred eighty days, and I will miss some of the aspects of eight grade—but certainly not all of it.
Being a teenager isn’t easy. You have a lot of things on your mind, a lot of things to worry about, a lot of things to carry and when I mean carry, I mean both physically and mentally. During the 17 years of my life that I have lived so far, I believe that I have never carried this much before. Part of it I think is because it’s senior year.
