Persuasive Essay

Over the years, the cost of college tuition has been one of the central issues limiting students, like me, from obtaining the best education that one could receive. Usually, this results in students settling for a school nearby rather than being able to have the choice to go to the best one in which they were accepted into, due to such skyrocket prices. Much of this problem or concern has to do with out-of-state tuition being much higher than in-state tuition, sometimes almost doubling the price of in-state tuition! Therefore, students are more pressured to remain in state rather than go to out-of-state schools that may offer a better education. The extensive differences between in-state and out-of-state tuition costs may dishearten numerous students from attending the school of their choice, which may also be one of the better schools they were accepted into. Therefore, this inequitable price discrimination, over time, will end up to hurt these individuals, causing many to receive a lower-quality education due to the unaffordable prices, which will result in a lower-paying, less successful career for the individual. This also damages the economy, because lower-quality educations create a lesser-educated workforce, which in turn makes a less productive workforce causing more of an economic issue for the general public. Instead, the practice of discriminating against students by charging more for out-of-state tuition should be put to a total and complete stop. This will ultimately help to balance the playing field, by improving the fairness, which will in turn lead to a better education system, by allowing the student to have a broader, more affordable view of where he/she can attend. Most or all students in the country will have... ... middle of paper ... ... must stop limiting our children and instead aid them in expanding their education by passing a federal law prohibiting out-of state tuition in order for students to attend some of the many prodigious colleges around the world. Ending such price discrimination would be epic and allow for a more extensive variety of choice for all college students when it comes to choosing the right college, but only if the majority of states acquire such a method of tuition equality. For years, the differences in the prices between in-state and out-of-state college tuition has always been an issue in determining where many high school graduates go to school, so by acting now we may help our future and current generations in obtaining an equal, more advanced education. Therefore, leading to a more productive work force, which in turn can generate an increase in the economy’s status.
